I  just bought the Keys & Strings Midi Pack.  It’s divided into 2 sections.  One is Piano – the other is Strings.  When I click on the Strings in the Browser, the sound is a Piano.  There are no strings sounds that I can find.  Does this pack rely on something else to have the Strings sound?

Yes, you will need to either buy a string unit from toontrack OR use any string pad VSTI that you may have lying around…

To use another VSTI:

1. Load Ezkeys and find string midi groove
2. go to MENU on the right and select ENABLE MIDI OUT
3.  load your own string VSTI
4. Turn down Ezkeys volume knob so you only hear your VSTI

What I’m attempting to do is save project as “MTS FINAL” with USER PRESET “MTS FINAL”is also loaded….. This is important for me as I’m constantly saving USER PRESETS as I go along and if I open the project again next week I’m wanting to get the same USER PRESET that I left off with and not having to think it’s different….OR using this set-up in a NEW project and making sure it is the same…I hope this video helps…

I read in the release notes that if you save a project that the instrument order would stay the way you organize it in the grid Editor.

I have saved a project and it’s USER PRESETS in my DAW (reaper) and right now it’s coming up as DEFAULT in both project name AND user presets (instead of project name and user preset names) when I reopen the project. Also the instrument mixer goes back to default again.

Is there any settings I need to adjust for these new features to work?

Ok, I just tested this again in a new project and found out that once reopening the project I have to go and open the SAVED project (easily thru OPEN RECENT in file menu)  ie. I named this one TEST and the grid mixer and user presets come back along with the song midi…

I expected the project to reopen with the saved name and user presets as in the past….But VERY good UPDATE as I REALLY like the grid mixer settings to stay!!

Also working in my Old project too!! NICE!!

yes I am using this in REAPER and I believe I had not tried to sync all of the snare at that time…was just going thru and tweaking the midi. When I tried to drag it over to the line it wouldn’t move until I had taken off auto snap…

 

This is an older project so I’ll keep my eye on the midi more closely…could be just an anomaly for that project in that particular midi block…I do quite a bit of custom cutting of the blocks and such…I’ll report back if it keeps up.

I have been getting a lot of lag when I FLOAT the Grid editor to another screen and use the mixer or drum view for viewing &  editing also…anyone else getting this issue?

Yes I originally went and did a kik part in find groove, found something I liked…Went to song creator and started finding my intro, prechorus, chorus ect…Went and created and finished my song, but had to fine tweak the kiks, snares, extra kiks, perc parts, ect…. So NOW every time I go and add something to say the prechorus, it all of a sudden joins itself to the VERSE part or, if I change something in the bridge it joins itself to the previous CHORUS….

 

Before I didn’t care, but now I found out if I save them in SONG PARTS into my USER midi I can re-access them and quick go to the part I want to change and that makes things easier…But now I’m kinda having to recreate the song parts all the time…weird…

I know They have that in the NASHVILLE EZX….I tried this for hours one day to do it and then ended up getting some sticks and micing them.. THEN months and months later I found out I had them in that ezx in ezd2… lol
