I love Orchestral Percussion SDX and agree with all that a MIDI library would be fantastic. It is such a good SDX to not have a complementary MIDI library. I have all the Toontrack percussion options for MIDI (Latin, Latin/Cuban etc) but still not enough. PLEASE Toontrack can we have a MIDI library.  I have also posted in requests and feedback so maybe we should all add support to this ?

    Hi Toontrack Development Team,

There have been a number of threads requesting more MIDI for Orchestral Percussion but I don’t think these have made their way to this “requests and Feedback” section. A couple of links below.

Can you please consider looking at this as this is such a wonderful sound library yet the amount of MIDI files/grooves is very low in comparison to other SDX’s. Thanks, Andrew

I’ve got the answer. It is definitely an internal module feature with the Yamaha and no way to use it in VST’s like SD3 – Bummer !

Isn’t that Luke Oswald talking in the video ? He has a lot of great stuff on how to tailor sounds in SD3.

Thanks Jord for sharing the link. cheers, Andrew

Unfortunately you need SD3 and then have to separately purchase the Hitmaker SDX – works similarly to EZD3 which you need to purchase and then purchase separately any EZX’s for additional libraries. SD3 is a big investment that you may not need. For me as an e-drummer, the flexibility  in SD3 to control all drum sound parameters as well as adding additional instruments/mixer channels and routing to buses is awesome – if you look at my avatar you can see how many different triggers/instruments I can run in SD3. Check out SD3 thoroughly to make sure it is what you need.

There is a gated kit in SDX Hitmaker (see screenshot) which is on the money for what you are after. I have had success with both Gretsch and Premier kit versions of this. However I don’t think there is an EZX version of this one and certainly no EZX’s with Hugh Padgham as the Engineer that I can see. Not sure if this helps but certainly agree that an EZX similar to this would be very much appreciated by the drumming community (who don’t have SD3 or Hitmaker SDX).

Thanks Jord, that is a great suggestion. I substitute pieces all the time and struggle to get the similarity with current room I am using. cheers, Andrew

    Hi John,

I have a similar issue were I purchased Area 33 Origin on 19 Dec to take advantage of the discount. It has been “on hold” ever since and I sent a request to product support (including the order details) but have not received a response. I note it has now disappeared from “PENDING” section on my credit card so it looks like there is a problem. I still want to go ahead with the discounted purchase so I will send another request to product support but just wanted to let you know there is definitely an issue going on. cheers, Andrew

    Just an update.

I have been using the Linsoul Timeless 7Hz  IEM’s for 18 mths and they haven’t missed a beat. A slight dial up with EQ in my mixer and they are so close to HD650’s that I use them all the time now with SD3 standalone and also with by DAW (Cubase). Bass response is awesome – as is the treble for cymbals etc. Almost unbelievable for the price.

I don’t do any metal either and D&D is one of my favourite SDX’s. It is so much more than just a metal library. I wouldn’t knock it back thinking it is metal only.

Search on the forum and you will see many (experience) non-metal users praising the diversity of this expansion. cheers, Andrew
