Hi Jack, Just an FYI – I use xdrums a lot and as an example I have a second (continually closed) hi hat on my kit. If I copy an existing Hi-Hat it will actually copy all the mic channels (bleeds) for that original instrument. Example on screenshot (All bleeds available – but I only use the close mic and OH for this one). Same for any other xdrums. I often duplicate toms and change parameters to give me a 6 tom set up regardless of library.
I do have a couple of “sampled” user cymbal instruments (chimes) that I use and they only have one channel as xdrums. I route these to a bus that then routes to my “cyms” bus channel and also has a send to my OH bus so my way of getting these one mic channel instruments into both a “cyms” bus and also into OH bus to give a bit more mixing flexibility. I like to have all instruments in my OH channel. Hope this is of use to you. cheers, Andrew

Jack has the right set up. I’m just going to go a bit further and screenshot all of my channels as it might help the OP in working out for himself. Hope it helps – see attached from start (mic channels) through to busses and final outputs. For max flexibility (I am an e-drummer so probably more particular than most would need) I route each instrument to its own channel and also to OH (and ambient sometimes as well).

Have you checked “Route Instrument Microphones” under Drums Tab to make sure each instrument you want routed to OH DYN is routed correctly ?

Thanked by: mattyyo, Scott Eshleman and drumjack52Always good to hear how others do things as there are many ways to achieve similar outcomes. Everyone brings something slightly different to the table. I actually use more effects in SD3 than I do in my DAW but I play and record drums only (e-kit) so not the same as many others. Unfortunately I cannot play any other instrument !

No probs and agree with your comments re “hovering”. FYI I daisy chain an old DTXpress4 Yamaha module plus my DTX900 Yamaha module into the Edrumin10. I use the Yamaha modules for drum pads (all Yamaha) and some cymbals (also all Yamaha) and the Edrumin10 for other cymbals (Yamaha) and the VH-10 Hi Hat. The VH-10 with Edrumin has been a game changer for me and much better than the Yamaha RHH135 Hi Hat I was using. Much more realistic Hi-Hat feel and sound. cheers

I don’t normally share those sort of pictures – but as you have asked, see attached.
Plus another one coming.
Cheers, Andrew

Yes It would be great to be able to rename User “Instruments” that appear with this “Instruments 1” nomenclature with whatever we change the name to. This would apply to Grid editor, to “Bleed from instruments” and “Close mic audio from instruments” in the Mixer Tab and to the Instrument list in “Route Instrument microphones in the Drums Tab. I have user kits with up to 26 user instruments added and it is very difficult to adjust when I don’t know what they are in these areas mentioned above.
Please can Toontrack consider this as an option in the future.

Thanked by: drumjack52Jord has a fantastic suggestion for blending in kit pieces from other libraries to keep them sounding similar.
What you can do rather than replace the kit piece entirely, is stack the kit piece on top of the existing kit piece and then mute the ambient channels of the stacked piece and the close mic channels of the original kit piece. Blend to taste. That will give it a bit more similarity with the room you’re in.
