It would seem that you have found a bug in EZXs “Metal Machine”,
“Metal!” and “Metal Heads”. The cymbals in these EZXs cannot
be muted/choked by aftertouch or channel pressure in EZdrummer 2.
It works fine in EZdrummer 1 and Superior 2. There will be an update
that fixes this. I have no estimated date.
Cocktail also lacks this feature but that is so also in EZ1 and S2
and so would seem to be deliberate.

There is nothing to fix. Percussionist works perfectly in Superior 2.

Skip the MIDI node comments and start reading a few paragraphs down:
“The graphical representation available plots the incoming MIDI velocity on”

You are reading about MIDI nodes. They are objects that can
facilitate a velocity split or stacking or something equally
advanced. You just want to select the Articulation of your choice
and adjust its Velocity Transform. You should forget MIDI
nodes until week two of your relationship with Superior Drummer. 😉

“Open” is played by hitting with the shank at the edge of the hihat.
“Open Tip” is played with the tip of the stick at the bow of the hihat.
And yes, the nomenclature is confusing.

Just confirming that it is not possible to accomplish. You would
need a MidiNode that has a separate CC input for that.

>Does the standard installation not have grooves?
No, they are not on the DVDs. You download them from your Toontrack account.
That FAQ link is correct, although a bit “all your base are belong to us”.
