Yes, you can use older EZX in SD3 …

… and with a workaround you even can pimp older kits with the core-library room-features, that are not available in EZD2 …

… SD3 has 7 kits and if you dont want to double your samples:

• Vintage Rock EZX < Custom & Vintage SDX
• Pop/Rock EZX < NY Avatar (library that ships with S2)
• Jazz EZX < Roots SDX
• Nashville EZX < Music City SDX
• Rock Solid EZX < The Warehouse SDX
• Metalheads EZX < Metal Foundry SDX
• Jazz EZX < Jazz SDX
• EZdrummer < S2 Avatar
• Progressive EZX < Progressive Foundry SDX • Big Rock Drums EZX = No SDX Equivalent
• Seventies Rock EZX = No SDX Equivalent

1. Click “Midi Mapping” on the right side, you even can choose “Show Numbers”, “Show Keys”
2. Yes, you can mix the articulations (“stack”), but by default they are separated (if not, there is st wrong with Midi, i guess): there are always different keys for each articulation (one key for all articulations really wouldnt make sense)

… sounds not that extraordinary … but there are audio demos of all drums – you can compare … i guess, it depends on how close you want to come …

… i guess so, but for me the SSD was too expensive … actually you can get 250GB SSD under 30€ …

 

… i’m sure there is a README or install-informations – Toontrack is pretty extensively …

… my experiences:

• only EZdrummer has a trial
• you can add more drums than in EZdrummer and most important: you can stack/mix them and put lots of mics on them
• you can switch sounds very easy (just replacing it from your libraries)
• about e-pads i don’t know anything
• i load the octobans of my reggae-kit (EZdrummer2), but i didn’t look for more yet (still waiting for a Dancehall SDX 🙂 ) …
