Thanks John, I saw people zooming in and out on Youtube without the mouse pointer moving, so I was wondering how they did that. So thanks, I’ll give it a try.

It’s only a problem when 2 grooves are involved and I’m trying to make changes at the end of one, or the start of the second. I find it hard to line them up so I zero in on an area.

    thanks again!

    Hi Jordan,
Yesterday I briefly scanned thru 4 of your songs to hear the drums and they sounded fine to me. I listened to the whole song of All Comes Down and Cold Touch and at that point I was concentrating on the vocals and guitar. Cold Touch was my favorite of the bunch. I’ve been tempted to buy Rock Foundry, but held off so far because of getting a sound I like with Music City. I use Samplitude’s EQ and UADs LA2A on the kick and snares. If you end up buying Music City let me know and I’ll send my settings which may be helpful as a starting point. For the kick I almost always use the same EQ settings.
As far as vocals, I don’t have power and when I try to push the volume it sounds awful, so most of the time I’m singing close to the mic at low volume. I also do double tracks which takes forever to get to a point where I’m ok with it (a lot of punch ins). So I don’t naturally have a good singing voice. On this song I used Soundtoys delay on the vocals and I like the results.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen and post!

    Hi Jordan,
Thanks for the compliments! I listened to a few of your songs, really like “Cold Touch” and “All Comes Down”. You’re a lot better singer and light years ahead of me on guitar. Your drums sound fine to me! I have several kits, but seem to stick with Music City probably because I managed to find EQ & Compressor settings for the Kick and Snare that I like.

I found a way around this for anyone else having a similar problem.

When you have the SD midi track in a sequencer, similar to SD2 you can record that track from start to finish.

When you do this it builds an exact track inside SD3 (previously when I imported the midi track parts of the song were way off).

From there I was able to bounce down all individual mics (instruments) and selected pre-mixer so I can use my own plugins.

Hope that helps, thanks again for posting Mark!

I never use standalone, so I don’t know anything about it.

Default keyboard spacebar in Samplitude is play, I’ll try to setup keyboard shift/spacebar shortcut for SD3 play.

    Thanks for your help!!

In this Toontrack tutorial around 1:24 he also moves the cursor in SD3 and plays from there. That is what I’m trying to achieve and can’t figure it out:

This video around 6:18 he changes the cursor position and plays from new position right in SD3:

It was a few days back, so I don’t know which one exactly. It’s possible they had 2 monitors, but it looked like they were changing position “right in SD3” and playing from there. I’ll check some more tutorials, but are you saying it’s not possible to change the cursor location in SD3 and play from there?

    Hi Scott, thanks for replying!
Yes you’re right, SD2 midi editing was done right on a Samplitude track, sorry about that.
I hope SD3 is not suppose to work like that because it’s slows everything down. I’m constantly closing SD3, moving the curser in Samplitude, opening SD3 and hoping it’s close to where I want it to be in the grid editor.
When I watch tutorials on YouTube, they’re not moving back and forth from SD3 to their sequencer. They are just moving it right in SD3 and playing from there. I tried turning “follow host” on and off and it didn’t solve the problem.

    thanks again,

    Paul

I’m still having this problem. I can move the cursor along the grid editor in SD3, but when I hit play it goes back to whatever the cursor position is in Samplitude. Changing the position in SD3 doesn’t change the position in Samplitude. Anybody have any ideas what I’m missing?

    thanks,

Hi John, thanks for the tips with PM!
Yes I’ve opened SD3 after installing parts 1 & 2, and tested the SD3 kit as well as changing a few drum parts. Seemed to be fine.
The above problem occurred when I tried to install part 3.
