I have an idea of where the low frequencies sit and how each area sounds on a sub. I can thank my home theater sub crossover for that. Each area has a different low end sound. I guess with metal we don’t really think about stuff like the sub frequencies, stuff below 50hz, the real low rumbling. Then again I’m not sure if that would be good in metal. I like more punch and tight bass and the rumble for metal.

Yea, I think I’m just going to save my money and pass on the sub. The bass may sound weird at the double bass part just because of the 16th notes. They just sound odd on bass some times, the pluck sound just carries through. It’s just how bass sounds I suppose.

I’m using the Shure SM7B which is newly acquired. I was using an AT4040 but decided it was time to change things up especially since I’m a pretty loud singer. The pre amp is just the Presonus Firestudio Mobile which gets the job done. Thanks for the thumbs up on the voice.

Great writing. Over the past 5 years it seems like this style has gained the term djent. We used to just call it math metal because of all the change ups and off timing stuff. Sounds good. I’m getting back into things again, I’d really like an Axe Fx man to try some day. Sounds good. I guess I’m still happy using the software amps.

Sounds good here. I just started mixing and recording again after a hiatus so I don’t know how much my opinion would count here. It may be just me but the cymbals sound thin, like there is no omph to them. Are you doing a band pass on the overheads? The kick, snare, and toms sound good though as well as all the other instruments. Good writing on the tune.
