Ok, working on a system running a beta version of any OS is a little nuts. If you need your system to work as advertised you need to run a tested and approved OS. I have a few systems and occasionally will use one as a test mule, but never on a rig that matters to my day to day existence. (however, I do see Catalina listed in the menu below)
I’m not sure why they don’t give pitches. That’s something that would be easier to do while recording the kits. I’m an actual drummer and it’s not something that I make a conscience effort to match to the track, although I do play with the tuning till it sounds right.
Next time I build a kit I’ll check for fundamental pitch and perhaps we can start a drum pitch database for stock kits.

Thanked by: tkabd and alligatorlizardEww… Sorry to hear that. I’m running off an Apollo w/thunderbolt. I don’t use FW for audio anymore since I got an OWC TB3 SSD. What about USB3?
Are you sure about Apple support for FireWire? I’m running MacOS 10.14.5 on a Mac mini and a 2017 MacBook Pro and I connect to FireWire 800 drives all the time. Haven’t used 400 on them but 800 has been working. My library drive is thunderbolt 3.
That’s it, a bark! I forgot that one. Thanks
Thanks! That did the trick, no dropouts whatsoever. I even am able to get my latency down to the lowest setting. I wanted to wait a while before getting back to you to make sure things are working.
I don’t think there is hat sample that does an open & close in one shot. You need to record an open hat (say on 4&) and then a closed hat (say on 1) to create that. If you are just looking for a quick accent maybe you could go for a splash cymbal. There are also a crash cymbal articulation called ‘mute hit’ that might serve your purpose.

Thanked by: James FordPlease darken your shade of gray that you use for you manual! The light gray is a little hard to read on my iPhone.
50 shades of gray? Have you seen BFD3? They call it “blueprint view”. I’m a drummer and I don’t know about you guys but a big reason I started playing drums was because they look really cool. Skins would be nice but I’d also love to see a “kit builder” where you can arrange your kit to your liking (or match your ekit layout). I’m not crazy about adding a tom and having it live in a box off the side, but as long as SD3 works as well as it does, I can live with that.
My core buffer size is 128. I’d hate to go higher, I’m trying to get it down to 64!
Is there a chart that shows the best prefs for running SD3 on various computers?
I’m running my system @ 48k 24bit. My SSD is really fast.
I’m debating whether or not to replace my MacBook with a new 6 core MacMini (not so much for the cores, but for 64gb of RAM.
First I need to solve the playback issue.
Thanks, I will give that a try. I’ve always wondered how apps split up the duties to different processors. I’m hoping it is not my buffer, I hate to add latency to the system. That’s why I got the Apollo w/Thunderbolt. I’ll let you know how I do.

How is v3.1.4 working?
No other apps open. Had iTunes open once and that was a huge mistake. I have had Pro Tools Ultimate 2019.5 open and was never a problem before. I don’t run SD3 as a plug-in because there seems to be too much latency with drum plug-ins (playing in real time from my ekit). My Library drive is Thunderbolt 33 (1TB OWC Envoy Pro EX 2500MB/s) plugged directly into my MacBook, my Apollo goes directly in via an Apple TB2-TB3 adapter. The only USB going in to MacBook is my MidSport MIDI-USB adapter and my iLok. I’ve been turn off WiFi but not sure if it makes a difference. My kits usually have 6 Toms and 8 cymbals. I’m loading all sounds in, no streaming (not sure what the mode is called, it’s the top check box).
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

dear mr Coder.
There is a loooot you need to improove your software. Its not net really intuitive and really tedious to add samples. There is simply not enought direct access TO EVERYTHING. Which in the end means a huhe Timeloss.
Please learn from sofware like maya 3-D or Logic Pro X how windows Menus and accessibility of everything is handled. Lots of menu items in Superior drummer need 3 or more steps WHICH SHOULD just work with ONE Step. Learn and improove otherwise someone else could through you with ease out of the market!!
“an angry user”
Thanks
Reply To: roughly, how many sounds are there per drum? version: 3.1.4
Operating system: macOS Mojave (10.14)
I just came from world of BFD3. SD3 is light years beyond. I couldn’t be happier. There is a learning curve with all software and sure there are things that can be better , but wow, this is pretty great.
