You cannot add drums in EZD, and you can only set toms to toms, snares to snares and so on, in most packs. One of Metal Mania’s kick drums could be given a kick that sounds enough like a tom. It’s two kicks work independently unlike most other twin-kick packs. Still in Metal Mania, there’s a stick bag hanging on a floor tom. The bag can be set to a low tom. Tuning will make it sound like a rack tom. There’s also a set of chimes that can be made into a low tom and tuned as above.
Mine sounds more like snare in the middle and hat slightly to the side. How much do you know about miking a kit? Most OH – overhead – miking is done stereo, with a matched pair of mics. Forgive me if I’m telling you what you already know.
A ruff is two soft hits followed by a harder. Trig is short for trigger and to do with E-kits. Forward/backward is, I believe, which way you slide a brush.
Such simple grooves are hard to find in Toontrack. You can try Tap2Find, with the Search Webshop button switched on. Do you have one where the first half is as you want it? If so, cut it in half and you have your groove.
