That would seem to contradict this from Toontracks technical advisory :
You don’t need to have the EZD2 program installed. You can simply install the EZdrummer 2 Core Library EZX that is in your Toontrack Product Manager to have access to the EZD2 sound library and MIDI without the EZD2 plugin.

My mistake; I didn’t know you could install the core by itself.
Many of us have Toontracks installed on outboard drives. EZD2 core library needs to have EZD2 installed. The library is in Modern/Vintage expansion pack, along with the MIDI.
You can listen to every MIDI groove in every EXP. Open the Grooves tab and check the Web Shop MIDI button. I know I haven’t answered you directly, but it’s the best I can do.
