I cannot find ANYTHING covering the creation of a simple boom-slap boom-boom-slap groove. It’s as if y’all think we all need a hybrid of Kenny Aronoff and Keith Moon. I need SIMPLE, Charlie Watts/Kenny Buttrey drums.

I am a rank beginner and so far your product is WORTHLESS to me. So how about the very basics, without all the marketing bullshit added in, to make the tutorial longer? Christ on a stick, this is preventing me from even STARTING a project.

    Hi,

Please take a look at these.

    HI,

We have replied to your email from Support. Toontrack support and the development team are still (and have been) looking into this issue.

    In your email you mention:

“we’ve now uninstalled EZ Keys and we can’t reinstall it, it won’t let us, and this is after moving all traces of EZKeys in the registry files, temp files, etc… a complete clean-out.”

Please make sure to include the error message that you receive when attempting to reinstall EZkeys. On a side note, editing the registry can be very dangerous and we must state that Toontrack does not recommend this.

Have to say I am fairly disappointed with this one. The way these sound on your website vs. how they actually sound is WAY different. All the guitar sounds are very hollow for something that is supposed to be already preset. I get a fatter, tighter better well rounded sound out of Amplitube3’s version of an Engl Amp and that is just using the gain. No pedals no nothing. I love just about all of Toontracks products but this one seemed like a waste of money. Some say it’s because you have to record your track completely clean and then add MGG. I have re-recorded tracks clean, I have tried adding it to ones already recorded. I have tried it with amplitube on a clean amp, and a DI box. Either way it sounds the same. Unless someone on here knows a trick to get it to sound like it does on Toontrack’s website I am not happy with it.

Just to be clear Metal Guitar gods is made to be used with DI (Direct input) guitars. If you want Metal Guitar gods to sound like it does on Toontrack.com then you will need to record DI guitars with no other processing before the EZmix 2.

Also, recording level has a lot to do with the sound of the preset. Please take a look at this video that explains how to record Direct input (or line in) Guitar for EZMix 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yko_w9winPY&list=UUQ-s4wVPNRZUzgAl87Fcq6w

The input and output gain controls in EZmix 2 are very useful in making sure that you are recording with a proper level.

Finally as David pointed out, the guitar that you are using will also contribute to the sound.

This is kind of like asking should I eat an orange or an apple. You can choose which ever you like and neither will be “wrong.” You only need to do what you think the mix needs.

The sounds in EZDrummer 2 and EZX’s are “mixed” but they are NOT overly processed… this means that if your mix needs some additional processing on the drums you can do it.

“I also feel like I can make the drums sound badass with all the ez mix presets however does that take away from my DAWS head room and maybe overkill?”

Headroom is about gain staging. Making sure that you have proper levels in your DAW for all channels so that you are not clipping your busses or master channel. Ideally you want your tracks loud enough so that they are above the noise floor, but not clipping. This is called Nominal level. So If you are processing the drums with EZMix 2 make sure that you watch the input level meter in EZmix 2 and the output level meter in EZmix 2 (neither should be clipping), and finally the channel level in your DAW.

    Hi,

No you do not need to purchase EZDrummer 2 in order to use the latest EZX libraries (IF YOU OWN Superior Drummer 2 AND have the latest version installed). You will however need to install the Superior 2.4.0 update. (If you don’t have EZDrummer 2 or Superior Drummer, then YES you will need to purchase EZDrummer 2).

    1. What are the benefits of running them via EZD vs Superior?
There is no difference between running an EZX in EZDRummer 2 and Superior Drummer 2.4.0.
While EZDrummer 2 does have some features that Superior Drummer does not, these are not part of the EZX and the EZX itself will preform the same in both platforms.

    2. Are there any cross grade options for Superior owners?
No. There is no cross grade from Superior to EZDrummer 2.
