Update:
Toontrack has just released EZB METAL. Only together with this library and the latest release 1.0.7 you can achieve -6 Semitones within the tuning options of EzBass.
So the lowest note you can achieve under EZB METAL is Eb on the open B-string!
The two core libraries Vintage, Modern and the EZB ClassicRock still only support -2 semitones.
Please see this viedeo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3a-yZMPuRo
In EzBass currently the lowest note your can play is A(0), and the highest is E(4). So G(0) is not possible.
As a workaround, inside your DAW you could have a 2nd instance of EZbass in parallel. Then you need 3 more plugins:
1.) midi filter before EzBass(2) from note G(0) to G#(0)
2.) midi note translator before EzBass(2) pitched +2.
3.) audio pitch-shifter behind EzBass(2) pitched to -2.
Result: On the 2nd EzBass instance G(0) and G#(0) will be triggered and played as A(0) and A#(0) inside EzBass(2) before it finally gets downtuned to the desired note.
I never have had MBOX. But this is not a simple standard soundcard, so I would go with the original AVID (Digidesign) driver and check the settings then.

Maybe somebody else can assist here better who knows MBOX and ProTools, or contact the Avid support directly.
Hm, you have got a modern PC with lots of RAM for sample libraries. To me, Toontrack is not so hard on CPU consumption as some other manufacturers.
My idea is, the more active plugins you are using at the same time, the higher the possibility of having audio buffer underrun.
I would say check your ASIO buffer size and set it higher, maybe to 512 or 1024.

Thanked by: steven lee 1It has to to with the audio card driver you are currently using.
You should have an ASIO driver installed and selected. Best one is from the original manufacturer. But if it doesn’t exist and you are using only a simple soundcard you can use the ASIO4ALL driver.
With the standalone version of EZbass go to SETIINGS > Audio/Midi Setup and change the Audio device driver to ASIO (not WASAPI or DirectSound) and check if the input / output channels are set correctly.
The Plugin version of EZbass (like VST) is using the settings from your DAW software, so you need to change it there.

Thanked by: Nigel AlkerEZBP files (project files) do not belong to the User Libraries and its subfolders. You should place .mid files there.
Just drag&drop a midi part from your EZbass Song Track into and rename it (right click and rename file > name). You can also copy a midi file with the file explorer.
The Sync File option is for updating your organization if you e.g. have renamed your subfolders or just have placed new .mid files with the file explorer.

Thanked by: Nigel AlkerTo me it seems that EZbass does not have this same note on different string option.
First there is no “force string controller”, second I do not hear any difference between same note on different strings.
So I think every note just exists once and you can just play the notes you need.
It it a good idea telling EZbass you want a 4-string / 5-string / 6-string bass. So if you have got a Midi groove containing notes outside the tonal range of a specific instrument, it should ask the user if he wants these notes to be played an octave higher / lower.
(Aah, now I see why I could not experience the bug. I have “Auto-Adjust Chord Transitions” turned off.)
Oh, I am just a normal user who has bought EZbass two weeks ago 😉 and my only intention is to help users if I think I can (I have no team).
I mentioned the note length thing briefly, because I feel after converting audio to Midi the little time between fading notes and restriking strings generally (has nothing to do with EZbass) is not respected enough.
Cool video.

I have watched your animated gif and imported your Midi file into EZbass standalone and also my DAW / VST.
I do not have issues with damping notes, so I cannot replicate this behavior of moving notes.
Can you try to start a new project and then drag & drop your own Midi file on the Song Track and see what will happen?
Otherwise you can also zip and upload your project file (.ezbp) to see if it is corrupt.
(By the way, even if it is just a warm-up, I would set the note length at about -11% to make it sound more real.
Either in the Grid Editor tab on selected notes only, or in the Song Track as an overall block setting.
The damping feature is only available for the complete selected Midi block in the Song Track.)
I don’t think Audio Tracker has become even worse (see changelog in 1.0.4).
Paul, for the moment we have here, I think you can get acceptable results of your bass.wav with the threshold knob set at about 3 o’clock,
I would also give you the advice to create significant regions, so you can do individual adjustments.
Then you should be able to finish quickly.
I don’t know what Audio Tracker makes use of for seperating notes,.
Here my considerations (This one is for the development team):
I have already experimented with raw DI signals as well as with using plugins before Midi conversion.
What appears to be the simplest is ultimately the hardest: Playing the same note on the same string on and on.
In general, of course the quality of Audio Tracker’s result is a question of clearness. It depends on how good the notes have been seperated from each other, and how destinct the transients are to make decisions.
But after further evaluation of the bass.wav upload, I must agree with Paul that there is an inexplicable thing why some transients will not be detected.
Furthermore the interpretation of some velocity values are a little bit strange. Some peaks are at a quite high level, but are shown as low value.
As an example, I made a screenshot where at 30.1.00 I would expect a transient detection, but there is nothing. Even “Fast Detection” doesn’t help here.
So I also would like to ask Toontrack to improve the quality of the Audio Tracker.
(I know we can manually edit things here, but I think it is possible getting it with less effort.)
(Ps. I’m sure Toontrack is currently working on the manual and I’m happy the product has been released. Concerning songwriting it already does help me a lot instead of starting completely from scratch. It is a good thing you can compare your audio with the Midi results and make changes easily.
This is the Beginning, not the End !)
Normally, the design of EZbass wants you taking care of the “Generate accompanying bass Midi” function on the Drums & Keys tab. This should be your 1st choice. It will convert the drums or piano MIDI into bass MIDI.
By dragging it directly on the song track, some piano notes might be out of range of a bass guitar scale. This might result in either ignoring notes or unwanted articulation control (like harmonics, etc). If instead, you want 1:1 Midi from the piano, you should respect the EZbass default keyboard range from A0 – E4 and the key switches area from A-1 to G#0.
(I also want to add that notes at high velocitiy produce automatic fret buzzing.)
