What happens then with the “new note” that the TD-50X sends when I hit both the rim and the snare at the same time? the module and the pad have that capability. In other words, there are 3 notes now to play from the TD-50X (rim, snare and rimshot).
Rimshots are triggered no matter how hard you hit the rim so if you’re asking if SD3 supports hitting the head and rim at the same time to get a rimshot the answer is no, it always trigger note 40(rimshot) by hitting the rim only…
Thanks! I wasn’t able to find that confirmation on other posts or product documentation. Can’t wait to receive my TD-50X and try it with SD3!
Hi,
Rimshots on the snare and postitonal sensing on the ride have been supported for quite a while. Positional sensing using the VH-14D is now supported with the Roland TD-50X preset.
Hi John, do you know if SD3 now supports the TD-50X module to leverage the features of the digital HH, Snare and Ride? for example, using the rimshot that now the TD-50X detects when I do the same than on an analog one. That is a great step closer to a decent emulation of the analogue world. If you put SD3 on top of that you have a really high-end combination.
Thanks in advance
Hi,
I do not have a unit to test myself but I must ask if you are certain that your module is @ Factory settings when it comes to MIDI note assignments?
Are you using the SD3 Core Library? This Ride is using CC positioning, right? What does the Ride CC Map tell you in the MIDI Preset on the MIDI In/E-drum Settings page? Are you using SD3 standalone or in another host?
BR,
John
Any update from Toontrack on this? it would be really bad if I can’t use the new features of the digital pads with SD3. I mean….rimshot?!?!? how good is that! it would be a shame to not be able to enjoy that with SD3.
+1. I would also like to have the ability to use MIDI Learn when SD3 is launched from my DAW. Today I can’t do that. Thanks
Hi John,
Sorry but I can’t follow the instructions. Don’t know how to save “channels” as channel presets (a channel is the same than a mic?) or individual FX presets. Any chance you post a screen capture of the process?
thanks! what should I do with the “amb ribbon, OH Dyn, OH Cond and other ones that are created by default? Can I eliminate those?
Thanks John. I was pressing the right click button to open the already applied effect and that was resetting everything. After I clicked the little window in the middle I can see my original configuration. Thanks!
This is interesting. I would love to get some kits that sound just like the original songs. For example, this video shows how to tune a specific kit to sound like Zeppelin’s When the levee breaks. It would be great if we can all share a config that sounds exactly like a specific song/artist. Of course, all under the assumption we are all paying for the kit we need to use.
I’ve been playing with some recordings to get to a similar sound on Pink Floyd’s songs, but it’s hard. It’s also fun to play with FXs and all of that, but from time to time it would be good to just load the config and play.
Thanks John. If that’s the case, then why you guys load TD 10, 11, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30 and others? there must be a difference between those. I’ve been doing what you are telling to, for example, adjust the kick drum and rimshot sensitivity, but I’m assuming the default TD-17 preset should avoid those little issues from happening. Right?
Or: how can I change the sound of that sidestick for another that comes loaded on a different snare drum?
Bumping to see if there’s a way to do this. Thanks
Please the following topic on how you can modify sensitivity of any sound in SD3:
<iframe class=”wp-embedded-content” style=”position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);” title=”“Change sensativity for a TD-50kv” — Toontrack” src=”https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/change-sensativity-for-a-td-50kv/embed/#?secret=anqUkzYucQ” width=”500″ height=”282″ frameborder=”0″ marginwidth=”0″ marginheight=”0″ scrolling=”no” sandbox=”allow-scripts” data-secret=”anqUkzYucQ” data-mce-fragment=”1″></iframe>
Thanks. That added some volume to the notes and I went even to the articulation (sidestick….for some reason the “rimshot” makes by default to play the snare drum sound), but is still not loud enough. How can I make it louder and apply for example an FX only for that articulation?
Or: how can I change the sound of that sidestick for another that comes loaded on a different snare drum?
Reaper is set to a 44.1kHz sample rate and the Studio 24 is set to 48kHz. That might have something to do with it.
Are you running the latest driver for the Studio 24?
I would find a 256 sample buffer to be a little high for recording MIDI. I set my buffer to 64 (or 32) when tracking then bump it up to 1024 when mixing. Of course, the lower you go with the buffer, the harder on the cpu and more glitching can occur.
Yes, latest driver running on the Studio24. Will try with lowering the buffer there to 64 to see if it gets better. Will report back.
Thanks!
