    Hi!

All Mic level control presets that has an Ambience knob has one out of the two sets of Ambience mics active:

    Stereo out:

    Classic Jazz: KM84

    Close Room 1 and 2: C24

    Multi out:

    Close Room 1 and 2: C24

    Near and Far: KM84

Thank you, that’s very helpful. We’ll look into this and will have it fixed in a future update!

Hi Shootie. Thanks for your thorough research on this.

A pure Program Change message shouldn’t reload the current library. It just switches the library preset, which is way faster than a library change, followed by a preset change, which seems to be happening for you. Since EZkeys2 is reloading the library, that would indicate that your controller is sending out a Bank Select message before the Program Change message. And since it re-selects Session Grand (which would be the first entry in your list of libraries?) it probably sends a Bank Select message with value 0. This could either be checked in any MIDI monitoring software, or by selecting another EZK library before incrementing using the knob, and noting if EZK2 switches back to Session Grand. It would be helpful if you could check this out. This would, at least partially, explain why EZdrummer3 said that “Action!” is loading (which is the first entry in the library list), but some other goofy stuff seems to be going on there as well, since it re-selected EZD3 Main Room most of the times.

In EZK2, you can select the same library that’s already loaded, and it will actually reload, something that couldn’t be done in EZK1. It should probably be up for discussion if that is a wise decision when it comes to Bank Select / Program Change. We’ll look into this!

Again, thanks for the elaborate description.

Hi, and thanks for the quick response.

I see that you are creating new close mics in the mixer for each stack. Superior Drummer 3 has an upper limit on the number of microphones in the mixer.

If you’re to create this many stacks, I would suggest you use the “Route close mics to mixer channels: Existing” in the bottom left corner of the view where you browse for instruments. With this setting, the local mics of the stacked drum are automatically routed to the existing mics in the mixer. This routing can be changed in the “Route Instrument Microphones..” setting for the instrument in question.

Changing the “Route close mics to mixer channels” to Existing instead of New will allow you to keep stacking. The crash itself will be looked into and fixed in a future update, so that if you try to add this many mics by stacking, you’ll eventually get a friendly warning instead of a crash.

I have been trying to stack all toms and snare articulations but SD3 keep crashing before I’m finishing stacking all instruments.

I used 3 stacks on all articulations and changed the velocity curve on each stack for ultra fat sound.

Seems like there are is a limit of how many stacks you can use which suck sooo bad.

I guess there is a limit to how many stacks you can add but it should be more theoretical than practical (like…128 but don’t quote me on that), I have just tried adding about 30 stacked sounds to my snare center and snare rim articulations and can keep going.

Could it be a memory issue? How big is your SD3 Project?

As for the original question, let me give you an example on how I would do it:

I have a “Hip-Hop” Rim snare sound I like to stack with sometimes; I drag and drop this sample to the Snare and select Add Stack to Center.
Then the Stack shows up to the right and I can right-click the stacked Rim and select ‘Copy to Stack’. I will see a list of Stacked and Not Stacked articulations and can select which one I want to copy it to. Right-click again and Copy to the next.

Works pretty fast and with Toontrack sounds as well as user samples.

    BR,
    John

The size is 6715 MB so there is plenty before I reach my limit of 16GB.

I managed to add 2 stacks on each tom and snare but when I was about to do the same with the Kick it kept crashing.

Seems like it crash when adding the 31 stack in my case.

    Hi,

Could you try to elaborate a bit around the crash? For instance:

    • What EZX and preset was loaded?
    • What drum (What EZX, Drum and Articulation) did you try to stack, and on what drum/articulation on the drum kit?

The more information you can provide, the better.

    Thank you in advance,

I could use some help here too. I tried to export a WAV file and though I was doing it properly, but the length of time that process was taking was pretty extreme!

I’m trying to export my project into a WAVE file and every time I go to do it it tells me “Could Not Create All Files”.  I literally just want a file to drop into Audacity.

Hi! The message “Could Not Create All Files” suggests that the WAV files could not be written to the chosen directory on disk. Please make sure that you have the appropriate (write) permissions to the selected directory.

    Hi,

This is a bug related to stacking drums with “alternate” articulations, where only one of the alternating articulations was used in the stack, and was introduced in version 3.2.5. We’ll include a fix for this in an update in the near future. Until then, I suggest working around it by disabling “Alternate hits” on the stacked drum.

    Apologies for the inconvenience!

    Hi Ryan,

We’re sorry for the inconvenience. I suspect you updated from 3.2.4? From what I’ve found, this is a bug related to stacking drums with “alternate” articulations, where only one of the alternating articulations was used in the stack, and was introduced in 3.2.5. We’ll include a fix for this in an update in the near future. Until then, I suggest working around it by disabling “Alternate hits” on the stacked drum (as you’ve already found).

Thank you, and again, apologies for the inconvenience.

    Hi Daniel,

When loading EZbass in Studio One 5.4.1.66992, adjusting some of the knobs under the “Effects” section in the Bass tab, and saving (both from the DAW and inside EZbass, as both project and preset), my knob values are properly restored when I restart Studio One and load the project/preset. Maybe I am missing something or perhaps I’m misinterpreting your situation. Could you please elaborate a bit and describe in better detail what steps you take to get the described behaviour?

I did notice however, that if you in Studio One change something in EZbass, and then try to load the same project, Studio One won’t force a reload even if you have made changes to your project. Closing the project through File -> Close (..and don’t save changes), and then reloading the project will restore the values to the ones that were last saved.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi,

The “Damping” knob in Edit Play Style is relative to the current damping value of each damping node related to the marked notes of blocks. So turning it to -127 will offset all damping nodes with that value, causing them all to reach 0, and no damping is heard. The project you attached already contains damping nodes at various levels throughout the song, so turning it to, say, -50 will also result in varying levels of damping, at -50 offset compared to what you already have. If you want uniform damping throughout the song, you’ll need to remove the existing damping nodes and then adjust the damping, either by turning the “Damping” knob in Edit play style or manually drawing your desired curve in the CC editor.
