So, here’s my vision for EZKeys 2:

    1. Implement the same search functions found in other Toontrack products: tap 2 find, filters for library, genre, type, play style, time signature, resolution (including dotted rhythms as an option), and intensity.
    2. You can even improve the search and filter options by including…
      1. an “intensity” range. I’d love to be able to just find options in a specific range of intensity. (If the bar goes from 1-100, I sometimes want just the 20-40 section of the intensity range.)
      2. some way to select “hammered” and “arpeggio” kind of playing. This would actually make more sense if it was on a scale, much like the “intensity” bar. It would be awesome to be able to say I want midi that’s about 20% hammered chords and 80% arpeggio notes. Again, selecting a range of hammered/arpeggio-ness of the results would helpful. Building your database based on this information of the midi will help greatly in the “tap2find” function. I could tap out a hammered/arpeggio pattern and the program could find midi with the hammered chords and arpeggios in roughly the same location of the measure.

If just those two things happened, I would probably upgrade ASAP. It would greatly improve my workflow. But, here are some other things that could really take it to the next level (in order of awesome-ness):

    1. The whole program is separated by “left” and “right” hand. These form two different functions while playing anyway. It would be awesome to fuse the right hand of one midi file to the left hand of another midi file. Say, the left hand has sweeping arpeggios and the right hand plays some syncopated funky chords. Mixing and matching could lead to some awesome (or potentially not) combinations. The existing midi libraries could be split up into left and right hands with either machine learning or clever algorithm (please don’t split it at some arbitrary note like middle C).
      1. If this happened, then that would open up opportunities for making midi pack specific to pop/RnB/EDM that tend to favor synth parts that are just one hand. That could then open up possibilities for Synth EZKey expansions – not that there aren’t enough synth vst’s out there in the wild, but it would give you an opportunity to get into that market.
    2. Much like EzDrummer2, be able to add/subtract notes “intelligently”. This could also be separated into “add/sub hammered chords” or “add/sub arpeggiated notes”. It could also be specific to each hand.
    3. Include manual MIDI editing via piano roll or sheet music view.
    4. All the midi editing tools anyone could ask for – drawing in velocity curves, quantization/humanizing (with ability to adjust what and how much), etc. All the stuff I do in my DAW with editing midi – but in EZKeys itself.
    5. Add in LFOs, filters, etc.
    6. More sound expansions – venture into synths, samplers, etc. You could even make your own Rompler.
