there are also downloadable updates available from the product manager,,for example the
Custom & vintage SDX library

are they very important and necessary? or maybe important because of important / nice new features?

I’m working with an older Intel Mac, OSX 10.6.8, SDrummer version 2,
everything is working fine now, I don’t want to get in trouble after doing a update

This happens because the certificate that the installer was signed with has expired now. It’s only OS X 10.6 that has a problem with that, but you can install by temporarily turning back the system date to before June 1, 2017 (if I remember correctly).

installing worked fine , Sup Drummer is in working order on my computer now!
