Some great answers. I have a picture of the late great Charlie Whatts as my Logic Pro Icon for drums. The kit I’m using has a similar sound I think to his. If anyone asks who the drummer is in the future, I will say a session drummer called Charlie.

To my ears the drums don’t sound like midi, my co-writer thinks the same, it’s just that three people I know made those comments, which was the reason for asking the forum the question. It’s the first time I’ve used the forum in the words of Arnie ‘I’ll be back.’

Can you be a little more specific on the timing and dynamics? Is that the timing in the grid editor? If it is I’ve not been using that I’ve been using patterns that I’ve been picking in Band Mate are you suggesting that I should get into the piano roll the change the timings and swing?

I have it set to follow the timing in Logic Pro X is that correct? Can you expand on dynamic features?

    Many thanks for your help.

This is the song in questionhttps://soundcloud.com/markpdwheatley/alice?si=4b60b349728f41ee9247dd652f92c7e3&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

I’m not programming the piano roll, I have not learned how to do that yet. I’m using bandmate and then picking drum patterns from the list it produces. I am not recording individual drums to tracks just using the stereo outs. I have put fills into the patterns and varied them for the different sections of the song.
