There is a four string bass option! I do think that is a good option too. How do I select that.
Reply To: Thanks for the 4-string bass option! version: 1.1.1
Operating system: Windows 10
Just go to the BASS tab and then select from TUNING then LOWEST PLAYABLE NOTE. From there select PLAYS ON 4 STRINGS. Other options for lowest playable note are also available including PLAYS On 5 STRINGS.

Thanked by: Rüdiger Beissert and ElMojoHi
I have the same problem in Logic 10.6.3 where Vibrato (Modulation) on one note in EZBass freezes playback when playback hits the note and therefore Logic crashes. Switching off Follow Host still causes a crash when the song track is played independently. Deleting the Vibrato (Modulation) on the note in the CC track window allows normal playback in either Logic or in EZBass.
Logic 10.6.3
OS Catalina 10.15.7
EZBass 1.1.0
Thanks

Thanked by: Mathias_70I like EZKeys. It helped me to provide piano tracks in 2 recent song recordings in double quick time, neither of which I could have hoped to have programmed as quickly without it sounding “stiff”, let alone played live. All I added in was a small MIDI part from a MIDI download, quickly changed the chords and did a small amount of editing on Logic. I used two of the country patterns even though I don’t normally do country style songs. They turned out pretty well I thought.
I think EZK is a relatviely inexpensive tool for songwriting/piano backing tracks. Also, by looking at the MIDI track in a DAW you can learn a lot about how the piano is played by a professional to help with programming your own accents, grace notes etc and adding or subtracting notes, amending velocities etc which can mean the production of a more individual track.
I really think everyone expects too much these days. No amount of add-ons will make your songs sound more interesting or better. Like any tool it is there to be used/abused creatively. You only have to look through musical history for some great examples; Sun Records recordings, Joe Meek’s productions, Jimi Hendrix and a Fuzz tone pedal, Beach Boys/Beatles recordings – all using archaic gear by today’s standards. So with the greatest respect and no ill will intended, stop complaining, experiment and get producing!
BTW, if anyone is at all interested I will upload these recordings somewhere, which were all done as a test and a bit of fun!
I was asked to do a review for Time & Space as one of the first purchasers http://blog.timespace.com/2012/03/toontrack-ezkeys-is-now-available-so-what-is-the-verdict/?utm_source=Friday+30th+March+2012&utm_campaign=Newsletter+30th+March&utm_medium=email. Interestingly at the bottom of the page they quote “With more piano sound-banks and midi-files coming soon, EZkeys set’s to establish itself firmly in the Toontrack product portfolio.” Supposition on their part..? Well, they are a pretty reliable company. If there were more midi files in certain styles (pop, rock, country) I would happily pay for those. I’m not too bothered about more piano sounds as I bought Pianoteq a while back. You can see though that perhaps future updates might include Electric piano, wurlitzer maybe even organ. Could be very interesing.
Thanks rgarber. I think you’re right that it is less destructive to use the chord divider tool. I’ve only had a quick go but using this tool seems to continue the chord flow whereas the split will shorten the notes and can leave an abrupt gap. I need some more experimentation with it. However If it is too awkward to use, I might just drag the amended chords into Logic and amend using that. It may be quicker! I still find it curious that there is no explanation in the manual. Not sure what you mean about right-clicking, maybe you meant left clicking which brings up the analysis tool? Although I can select a chord name from the analysis tool and it changes the chord displayed, the chord actually played is still the same as it was before. Only if I go back to the pointer tool then bring up the COF can I change the chord sound.
It’s on the left hand side underneath the scissors tool. The icon shows “Al+/-“. Hovering the mouse over displays “Add/Remove/Correct Chord Notation”. Still don’t know what the point of it is as there’s no explanation in the manual.
