If there is I’ve not found it. A mouse only has one velocity to it unlike a drum pad so you only get one level. The only thing I’ve found that changes IS the mixer channels or the output slider.

There should really be a “Audition level” in the settings 0-127.

How hard could it be ?

But SD3 is just 5 years old so I guess there’s room for improvements 🤣

    auditioning the maximum 127

But that would affect the velocity of all grooves ?

Why the auditioning velocity is set at maximum 127 and there aren’t a setting for it is a total mystery or in fact plain incompetence from the developers !

    Further bugs !

Working with percussion instruments ( Future Hit Instruments  ) the “Select Menu” does not work on certain Shaker hits (See attached clip)

Values 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 are ignored but can be manually selected.

Another problem is that it is not possible to “paint out” these Future Hit instruments like you can with other instruments which is a royal pain in the ass.

Another problem is @ the 1:35 mark in the attached clip ( Just watch and see what  happens )

I agree. Users will be more inclined to use and buy products they can easily find a solution when a problem arises.  If I have too much difficulty solving problems I won’t upgrade, nor buy after trial period, nor recommend to other users in forums across the internet.

That’s probably why Toontrack aren’t to keen on using trial versions !

Hi, and thanks for the quick response.

I see that you are creating new close mics in the mixer for each stack. Superior Drummer 3 has an upper limit on the number of microphones in the mixer.

If you’re to create this many stacks, I would suggest you use the “Route close mics to mixer channels: Existing” in the bottom left corner of the view where you browse for instruments. With this setting, the local mics of the stacked drum are automatically routed to the existing mics in the mixer. This routing can be changed in the “Route Instrument Microphones..” setting for the instrument in question.

Changing the “Route close mics to mixer channels” to Existing instead of New will allow you to keep stacking. The crash itself will be looked into and fixed in a future update, so that if you try to add this many mics by stacking, you’ll eventually get a friendly warning instead of a crash.

    Cheers,

    Excellent !

    Thank YOU !

I have been trying to stack all toms and snare articulations but SD3 keep crashing before I’m finishing stacking all instruments.

I used 3 stacks on all articulations and changed the velocity curve on each stack for ultra fat sound.

Seems like there are is a limit of how many stacks you can use which suck sooo bad.

I guess there is a limit to how many stacks you can add but it should be more theoretical than practical (like…128 but don’t quote me on that), I have just tried adding about 30 stacked sounds to my snare center and snare rim articulations and can keep going.

Could it be a memory issue? How big is your SD3 Project?

As for the original question, let me give you an example on how I would do it:

I have a “Hip-Hop” Rim snare sound I like to stack with sometimes; I drag and drop this sample to the Snare and select Add Stack to Center.
Then the Stack shows up to the right and I can right-click the stacked Rim and select ‘Copy to Stack’. I will see a list of Stacked and Not Stacked articulations and can select which one I want to copy it to. Right-click again and Copy to the next.

Works pretty fast and with Toontrack sounds as well as user samples.

    BR,
    John

The size is 6715 MB so there is plenty before I reach my limit of 16GB.

I managed to add 2 stacks on each tom and snare but when I was about to do the same with the Kick it kept crashing.

Seems like it crash when adding the 31 stack in my case.

    Hi,

Could you try to elaborate a bit around the crash? For instance:

    • What EZX and preset was loaded?
    • What drum (What EZX, Drum and Articulation) did you try to stack, and on what drum/articulation on the drum kit?

The more information you can provide, the better.

    Thank you in advance,

    • What EZX and preset was loaded?

    Core Yamaha Beech kit

    • What drum (What EZX, Drum and Articulation) did you try to stack, and on what drum/articulation on the drum kit?

    Core Yamaha Beech kit

Toms = Center and Rimshot Articulations

Snare Center, Off Center, Edge, and Rimshot Articulations

    Kick Open and Hit Articulations

If I add one or two more stacks a crash occurs

See attached SD3 file for full info

OK, is it possible for you to locate a crash log, zip compress it and attach to a post here?

First off, I seldom trigger any sounds in SD3 as I mostly program or use grooves and I use Studio One unlike Pro Tools.

    John Rammelt:
“Back to your video: your timeline starts on Bar 0, you place an empty Block at Bar 1, then you pencil in a note at Bar 0, which of course extends the Block to the newly inserted note.
This would happen with any Instrument, not only the Future Hit Percussion.”

    Me:
I’ve done this a million times and what you say is simply not true. I placed a note on “the one” “in the measure” and that is when the block is extended backwards to the previous measure. When I then correct this the notes disappears completely. This can happen at any bar in the timeline.

    John Rammelt:
“If you mean that the greyed out areas do not disappear after the note has been removed, I do not see how that is a bug per se. The greyed out areas (exist in other instruments as well, Mute Tail for Crash) mean that you cannot insert a note on that lane at that place.
If you place a Shake Hit Immediate, there is a certain area that is blocked before you can pencil in another note.”

    Me:
The greyed out areas do disappear when I move the mouse away and it looks like a total mess that I haven’t seen since I bought SD3 for nearly 5 years ago.

    ————————————————————————————————-

And then I got an answer from Toontrack Tech Support !

    And I quote:

“We are going to forward to our programming team to take a look. It sounds like a known issue currently and is being worked on.
The next update should fix it, it will be released via the Product Manager.”

    End of quote !

    Hi,

the special Percussion pads do not work as regular instruments in the Grid Editor, especially not the ones with “future hits”. So, it’s not a bug, it’s by design.

I recommend using the Edit Play Style first, when editing them.

    BR,
    John

That sounds like a pile of BS to me !

This have bugs written all over it !

And why wouldn’t Percussion pads work as regular instruments in the Grid Editor ?

Is coherent workflow a novelty to Toontrack developers ?

What about the graphical issues ? Is that also by design ?

A nearly a 5 year ( FIVE YEAR ) old product and still riddled with bugs and shortcomings with the GUI.

What could have been a truly great product is now a semi decent one.

I guess listening to the users aren’t Toontracks cup of tea.

You have a hard time coming up with something on your own haven’t you !

Trust me, it’s very easy with a troll like you. But why bother lowering to your level? You’d only win by experience down there. You’ve already cheapened the rest of the thread with your lack of knowledge and insight, proven by your trollish behaviour, proving that you’re not even worth it.

Coincidentally jord means dirt where I live !

I’ve know that for well over two decades.

Try telling me something I don’t know. And judging from your recent posts, I’d be betting against you.

At least I am dirt in name, and not in character like yourself.

    Thanks for the Comedy !

That’s all you, dude! I’m just sitting here watching you make a fool out of yourself.
