    Hey all,

OP here. I want to stress again that I wrote this as a question to the community and as a subtle feature request to the Toontrack team if no solution could be found.

Again, for the use case of triggering the sounds are second to none. But it’s a red herring to bring that into this discussion. My question was about grids.

That said, we all love music and it’s a bummer that instead of getting answers some are doing the “insult people on the internet” thing. That wasn’t my intention.

I’d appreciate knowing Toontrack’s stance on this as I still haven’t found a solution that doesn’t feel like a workaround.

    cheers,

    Frank

If you haven’t understood that Toontrack doesn’t give a shit about what the end users want and need  by now, there is no hope!

Toontrack should rename it as “Inferior Drummer” because that is what it is!

Great sounds and the Tap to find but the rest suck ass!

    Update !

Superior Drummer 3 has zero support for tuplets 🙁

Like a car without wheels !

Mediocre Drummer 3 is a more suitable name for this crappy software !

I’m not a metal player and I use Cubase 12 pro. Cubase 12 has no drums that rival sd3. You obviously don’t play drums as you don’t know what a drum kit sounds like. I do and sd3 does is the best I’ve heard so far. Nearly all others still don’t sound quite right.

The sound is OK but the GUI and functions suck ass!

No I’m not a drummer, but I do know what a good drumkit sounds like!

What a stupid comment by the way but then again the world is full of idiots so I guess you’re in good company!

I disagree as they have improved the edruming experience greatly. I take it then this is the only part of sd3 you want? The rest is just garbage?
sd3 is about great sounds with a huge sample base in real rooms so the drums sound (and feel in a drummers case which I am) like a real drum kit. It’s much easier to do the midi in a DAW and bypass the midi editor. It has its uses as standalone but that’s the only time I would use it. It’s an added extra but not the reason I would buy it.

I couldn’t care less about edrumming!

SD3 has pretty good sounds, I wouldn’t say great though!

The rest is total garbage or kid toy stuff at best.

Toontrack should rename it as Superior Garbage Drums!

    The grid editor is prehistoric!

Toontrack need to look into Cubase 12 and learn a thing or two about rhythm and what music is all about!

But I guess the majority of their userbase are Metal dorks so we won’t ever see that coming from their half ass lazy coders any time soon!

To be honest I would have paid for sd3 without a midi editor as sd2 didn’t have one and I’m more interested in the sounds and playability from an edrum kit.

Saying that I fully understand your frustration that there has been no reply to this from toontrack. I also think that for anyone using the drum editor then this feature should exist.

Toontrack just want your money !

They don’t give a fuck about their users !

    Lazy bastards !

Sd3 is my first and last Toontrack product !

The sounds are superior as is the edrum implementation. Sd2 didn’t even have the editor.

What good are sounds if you can’t use it fully rhythmically ?

Superior Drummer 3 is soon 6 years ( SIX Years ) old and still have tons of issues that should’ve be fixed during the first six months !

Toontrack should rename their product to “Mediocre Drummer 3” to accurately describe what it actually is capable of!

I mean how hard is it to make every instrument having an independent grid where you easily could choose your tuplets ?

Then you could easily have 3 against 2 etc etc !

I guess Toontrack’s coders have no clue on what music’s all about !

Seems to have got out of hand. I know no software manufacturer who implements a change on request and quickly. I think the criticism of toontrack is way over the top.

5 years ( FIVE YEARS ) is a VERY loooooong time for NOT fixing or implementing basic features !

Ilja, my point is that you can set the volume slider to a macroparameter. Then if you have a software like gig performer, it will let you map digital knobs to macro parameters. So I have a virtual plug-in rack with a virtual knob and that knob now controls the master volume of the kit. Then using gif performer still, I map that virtual knob to a knob on a physical midi controller I have. You can see it in the bottom left of my picture.  Now that physical knob is controlling the master volume of SD3.  So I can just bring that down if I need to.

More half-ass solutions from a complete idiot !

    Why don’t you GFY !

Petter, is there a place to formally request features so I can add this or can you forward this for me?

It would be so great if there was a user kit selection that could be changed by a dial that could be assigned to a macroparameter.  Then drum sets could be selected via a midi controller (or in my case by rackspace variations within gig performer). the advantage is to be able to change the drum sets without having to have a separate plugin instance running, or by having to to actually and go in and click load the set while on a gig.

You can request all you want but to get something actually implemented is pretty much hopeless!

    Toontrack in a nutshell !

Bro you have such a bad attitude towards such an amazing piece of software. Its the best in the biz hands down, bar none.  If you don’t get that then you’re more than likely a novice who can’t appreciate the complexity of their work.  And for the record, I’ve seen requests like “make the mixer channels moveable”  happen in the latest updates so they do listen and act (despite you claiming they do not).  The guy even said he’d take this particular request up the food chain as its a relevant request.

Why don’t you go expend all this negativity somewhere else so I don’t waste my time getting updates on you complaining.

It’s because stupid people like you this software’s going down hill !

My standards are obviously much higher than yours !

    And I ain’t your BRO !
