I’m confused. Did you install Superiour Drummer 3 from the Toontrack Product Manager?

If you did a standard installation of Superior Drummer 3, the plugin should have already been installed. What DAW are using? If you have any other virtual instruments, SD3 should be in the same list as the rest of them.

DAW stands for Digital Audio Workstation. It’s the main program you use for recording, editing, etc. Examples are Cubase, Logic, Reason, FL Studio, etc.

For all Cubase users, here are free drum maps for most of the Toontrack SDX’s and EZX’s

If you find any mistakes, please let me know.

    Not that I know of.

There are many ways to use SD3 in a DAW, and I use it much differently than you do. I don’t do AABA or other standard song formats when I compose so I have never chained a song together or used the Song Creator in SD3. I also use  lots of time signature changes. So it’s easier for me to do everything in my DAW instead of syncing the two together.

Having said that, you will eventually find a way to use SD3 that works best for you. It’s incredibly versatile.

    Cheers!

I believe that the 1/2x, 1x, and 2x tempo dropdown only applies to the selected groove,  and if you drag that (let’s say 2x) groove down to the MIDI Drop Zone in the song creator it will play at 2x the tempo. Also, if you then drag that into a track in your DAW it will play at 2x of the DAW’s tempo. But the 2x is not an overall tempo changer for the entire song in the creator or the chain in the MIDI Drop Zone. You cannot make a song chain at 1x tempo and then have SD3 change the tempo of the entire song simply by choosing 2x at the top of the Groove Window. Only grooves that are dragged into that zone while 2x is chosen are going to be at 2x the tempo you are using.

I agree. The lack of the ability to “force string” and/or set a “hand position” is a real oversight for this plugin.

I hope they add these very important features soon.

This happens a lot. Here’s the original thread on the topic:

If it is indeed installed and not showing up, go to the Settings Menu and pull down to Libraries/Paths…

There you can set the file path to any of your expansions. This should entirely fix the problem as long as the libraries are installed

In the Grooves Tab you can right-click on any groove folder and choose “Open in Explorer” to find where your MIDI Grooves are stored.  If nothing shows up, you can either move the MIDI Grooves to that folder or again, go to Setting/Libraries-paths and change where you want SD3 to look for your  MIDI grooves.

One other thing, if no grooves are showing up in your Grooves Tab, you might first want to check and make sure that there are no filters being used in the Grooves window. If there are, delete them all and see if any Grooves show up.

OK, one more thing: if you use the Toontrack installer, it should  put your expansions/grooves in the correct place for SD3 to see them.

There are many expansions of both MIDI grooves and new drum sets for SD3.

    New Kits: https://www.toontrack.com/product-category/superiorline/sdx/

    More MIDI Grooves:  https://www.toontrack.com/midi-packs/

The Death and Darkness kit has a DW set. This is actually my favorite expansion. It sounds great! https://www.toontrack.com/product/death-darkness-sdx/

And all EZX expansions work with SD3 as well.

    Hope this helps!

I don’t believe EZBass has an envelope shaper.. You could try a transient shaper like Waves Smack Attack and see if that does what you are looking for.

If SD3 is gradually falling farther out of sync with your host, (Cubase) make sure that you are using “Follow Host” in SD3.

Over the years I have created an collected a bunch of EZX and SDX drum maps for Cubase. I’m happy to share them at the link below. All I ask is that if you find any mistakes, let me know so I can correct them.
