There are a lot of people having this error. I was one of them. Here’s the post I sent to this forum at the time:

Dave,
Did you search your entire C drive for the SD3 dll?

Hey John,
No worries on the admonishment. When using just the written word many things can be misunderstood. So maybe I took it wrong.
I don’t remember ever moving the dll. And since several other people have had this problem (this is the 2nd one I have responded to) there might be another reason for this. What I found that I had two SD3 dll files on my C drive and the stand-alone was seeing one and the plugin was seeing another. The only thing I can think of is that I upgraded to SD3 from EZdrummer and may be that is the case with the others reporting this issue.
Either way, it’s solved and I am a happy camper and I just want all SD3 folks to be happy too. I’m a huge fan of your products and the quality of your support.

Thanked by: JohnI and several others have had this problem. I posted a solution when I had it and was somewhat admonished by Toontracks saying that this wasn’t the right way to fix it. They intimated that I must have installed in wrong in the first place. Anyway, you can find both solutions at the link below. I have updated my SD3 twice and used my solution both times.

Thanked by: hawtoonsJust do a snapshot of your computer screen.
On Windows there’s key that’s usually on the upper-right of your keyboard that says something like Print Screen or Prt Scrn or similar. Pressing that will take a screen shot and copy it to your clipboard. You can then paste that into any photo editor or even a word processor. From there you can edit, print, etc.
To get a higher resolution of the screen shot hold the Windows key while hitting the print screen key.

This happens to me as well exactly as desaster66 describes. (Cubase Pro 10.0.50, Windows 10) However, mine seems to be more random.
My solution is to open the task manager, click on the triangle next to Cubase to open all apps associated with it, choose SD3, and end that task. At that point Cubase unfreezes.

I had the same resources problem. Here’s a link to that thread:

I’m not familiar with Pro Tools but here are things to check:
Are you using the song track in SD3 or do you have your drum MIDI events in a track in Pro Tools? It seems that the SD3 MIDI is also playing another MIDI instrument, whether that instrument is a virtual instrument or an external instrument, along with playing SD3. Check that the drum track in Protools is not sending MIDI to any other instrument.
Also check to see if ‘Enable MIDI Out’ is checked in the Settings/General tab. Unless you want to send the SD3 MIDI info to an instrument other than SD3, this this should not be checked.
If this doesn’t work, giving more details may help me to figure it out.

Thanks for the response, Olof!
First of all, it’s simply amazing that Toontrack has moderators and even coders that follow this forum to help us all out. It’s one of the things and makes Toontrack different from the competition. The quality of everything in SD3 is, well… superior! The GUI is totally intuitive. Everything works exactly how I would expect it to. It’s just a great job all around. So thanks for that! I now have two other professional virtual drum plugins that just gather electron dust while sitting in my computer! 🙂
So, as you’ve probably surmised, the stand-alone version was using one .dll (3.15) and the plugin version was using another. (3.14). Since SD3 had been working perfectly since I first installed it, and I don’t remember ever changing the dll from its original location, (however, the older I get, the more I forget!) it was the newly installed dll that was in the wrong place from my point of view. Could it be that my SD3 was an upgrade from EZ Drummer2?
Either way, I totally get it all now. And when/if 3.16 (or any new version) comes out I’ll remember the correct fix for this problem.
Thanks again, Olof!

Thanked by: Henrik EkblomI don’t know about that exact function but I did wanted to make sure that you know about the Tap2Find function which is on the grooves page. Here you can play a simple (or not) drum beat directly into SD3 from your controller and when you’re done SD3 will find the grooves that are closest to the beat you played in.
I use this when I kinda know what I am looking for. I just play a basic beat into SD3 (usually just kick and snare) and let it find what’s close (or exact) to what I am looking for.
Hope this helps!

Correct. If you want to be extra safe, just make a copy or your original drum track. Also, the Tracker allows for fairly simple editing of the result. So you should be good to go!

While it took a bit of editing after the fact, I have pulled drum tracks off of a stereo mix of an entire band. So I would answer your question with a “Yes”. The tracker does have the power to separate the different drums sounds and can allow you to separate those into individual tracks.

Thanked by: murphmusikYes you can minimize or hide them. To hide them just hide the entire right panel buy clicking the appropriate ‘button’ at the top right of the project window. You can minimize them by clicking on the little arrow at the top right of each VSTi in the rack. You also minimize or maximize them all at once if you wish

Thanked by: Rev2010I don’t have any way to test your problem with your version of Cubase. All I can say for sure is that this problem does not occur in Cubase 10.
