As previously stated you need an EZX with a Brushes Kit. I had the same objective in the recent sale and I got signature pt. 2 and Acoustic Songwriter. For brushes I prefer the latter. The brushes kit in signature has the same vibe as “tight room” in the core library while Acoustic Songwriter is more roomy and has a slight ring in the snare.
It’s also important to keep in mind that not all brushes Kits come with swirl articulations. The ones I mentioned do, but Singer-Songwriter, for instance, does not. Singer-Songwriter on the other hand has the benefit of including 3 snares with brushes while the ones I got only have 1 snare.
The options with brushes are usually pretty limited it seems. I would much appreciate it if Toontrack gave us more options in that regard. Maybe a brand new EZX that focuses entirely on brushes, mallets and rods? =) I know there is the Roots SDX but that’s for Superior Drummer and it’s 14 years old already (I think).
A similar issue is that sometimes song parts get merged into one just because I clicked a note that was close to the border.
I made a short screen capture that shows this issue:

Link should be up for 7 days from now on. Couldn’t share the video as an attachment.
This is still happening. Maybe it is expected behaviour because EZDrummer is meant for songwriting and the song parts are meant to act like grooves that can be moved around so they should always start on the one.
However, I am actually producing a record with EZDrummer and I would like to keep the feel of my E-Drum performance while still organising the midi into sections for (much) easier editing. Therefore it would be great if we could turn this feature off in the settings. Cutting the midi into sections should not move any notes.
I’ve updated to 3.1.1 yesterday and have been editing a song today. The problem still occurs.
Returning to this post after 10 months in case somebody stumbles upon the same issue.
This is how I record my drum performances these days:
It is a workaround and it takes more time than if I could record directly into the EZD grid. That sadly still isn’t possible because most of the time I will still get the described double playback issue.
Hello,
I am having the same issue with EZDrummer 3. I’ve had to return a new Laptop three times and now that I finally have a unit that I want to keep I can’t authorize EZDrummer on it. Would be great if you could remove the inactive authorizations for me.
Additional info: The problem only occurs when I have “Follow Host” enabled. But I need to have that on because I want to play along to my guitar parts and not just to a metronome.
I tried and it does not make a difference if I have just the drums page open.
I am not sure how I can change the track properties of the track that has EZDrummer on it. I tried disabling MIDI out on the track inside Logic but that didn’t help.
Is anybody able to reproduce this problem?
A workaround would be to just record into Logic and not into EZDrummer but then if I want to edit the part in the EZD grid I have to export the MIDI region as a MIDI file and then import into EZDrummer. That’s very inconvenient. I wish I could just drag the MIDI region into EZD but that doesn’t work.
