Thank you, found it! Now I entered all tempo changes and want to set all notes to 124 velocity. Every time I click a certain icon (marked red) the program crashes. Crash report and image attached.

How can I use the velocity and randomize sliders? The mouse is not sensitive enough. I can only reduce it by a minimum of 9 but not less. How can you do this via keyboard?

Thanks, John! I am a Sonar user. The midi does not contain BPM…actually I set them in Guitar Pro but exporting them does not work. I set the temp changes in Sonar, tempo settings…

Navigating in Sonar works but as soon as I click in the grid editor and hit the play button there, the tempo changes are not correct.
How can I import them into the grid editor?

    Help please!

Clicking the play button in the grid editor always uses the wrong BPM although host sync is enabled.
Clicking the DAW play button works but then I have to select the part I would like to listen to and edit velocities for in the DAW…doing this in the grid editor would be better.

Importing my DAW’s tempo changes does not work.

By the way, can you rename instruments? I use a huge kit with lots of pieces and “Instrument 1 – instrument 12” is confusing.

Thanks! Haven’t checked the buffer size yet because I normally use my soundcard and have set everything in the desktop icon.

Yes, Audient ID4 has an Asio driver of course.

I don’t have problems with my old Line 6 POD or when playing the keyboard and using VSTs (the libaries are on my SSD).

    I have an i5 2500k @ 3.3 ghz processor by the way.

I watched your tutorial how to switch to high performance mode (Windows) etc…didn’t do this before as I thought you could just start recording. Will give it a try.

Another question, something different: how were the metal packs sounds designed (I have Metal Gods 1 & 3, Metal Ampes and some others). Almost all of the patches need further EQing has way too much bass. I have an Ibanez RG 350 EX and an Ibanez RGAIX6U-ABS with Bareknuckle Aftermath humbuckers.

What should I do now? Change velocities and keep soft hits at 45 (not 85)? Change the snare? The problem is that the kit sounds good but does not react to velocity changes well (not just the snare but also kick drum etc.).

Did some tests with velocities 85-127.

My kit sounds the same in SD2+MF and SD3.

    https://abload.de/img/snarez1r8m.jpg

    1) My kit based on J. Skog – LOG (if I remember correctly)…with Ludwig Supraphonic snare. Sounds natural and the different velocities are clearly audible and visible.

    2) Andy Sneap Kit 1

    3) Black Metal

    4) Andy Sneap Kit 3 (the basis for my current kit)…you clearly see the difference is lost! 🙁

    5) Andy Sneap Kit 3 snare, xsnare and reverb muted… compressor on snare bottom and snare top disabled. Finally the velocity curve is better.

    6) Andy Sneap Kit 3 snare…same settings as above but all effects on snare bottom and snare top disabled.

The effects destroy the velocities…but it’s still strange that Andy Sneap uses effects and settings that result in a monotone snare (4). I can change the settings but then the sound is lost as well. 🙁

I don’t think this can be fixed…the workaround is to adjust velocities of all drum tracks I created with SD2+MF…but it would also mean that your midi files don’t work well with all kits as some are sensitive, some produce almost the same sound for velocities 85-127.

Installed the update yesterday. Still SD3 crashes when trying to edit a midi (pattern editor) and opens infinite “x has crashed” windows.

    Henrik, I have another problem.

Please load Andy Sneap Kit 3 or Kit 4…then play a midi…view the hidden mixer channels…there’s Amb Ribbon. It is off…then solo it…I still hear the bassdrum and snare drum anthough they are OFF. No bleed is selected either…where are they coming from?
Now I’ve muted everything…seems the REVERB is what causes the sound. But how can a reverb produce sound if the kit piece itself is muted? I don’t understand this. Looks like a bug!

ZIP with all crashes. Some of them were created in a loop.

Another crash. It’s getting frustrating! Imported a midi file, click to edit the pattern, crash, resulting in a loop of error messages.

Has the dump file only the last error or all of them? Looking forward to hearing from you!

Wanted to set a midi number for sticks in SD3. Crashed again! 🙁 Good I save after every five minutes. Otherwise I would have lost my work of the last 2 hours. 🙁

Seems additional instruments like sticks, shaker, tambourine are broken!

Thank you! Makes sense. 🙂 It adds bleed to other channels though, even if they are hidden in the mixer…so you have to be careful and look everywhere for changes.

Thank you! This makes sense! Having as many bleed mics as SD3 does is better though…so it’s better to use SD3 only and say bye to Metal Foundry?
