PS Adding suggested midi notes does not really work. I removed all midi notes from all kit pieces…then wanted to add suggested notes, some suggestions are correct, but others aren’t. e.g. the software wants to add 49 to the second splash although 49 is the main hit of crash cymbal 1.

If I went through all kit pieces in a certain order, I would not the default notes a kit starts with…and instead of a crash, a splash would be used etc.

Ok, the left crash would be 28, but both the center crash (Death kit of D&D) and the second splash would be assigned 49.

Ok, just finished adding all suggested notes and can say that it does not work as it should. I tested some Toontrack midis with the right china as the power hand…but the chinas aren’t even used as only the center crash is being played…

…which brings me back to my initial question what midi notes I can safefly remove (when there are dupliactes such as 4 notes for bow tip articulation, center crash).
I don’t want to test 100+ notes with dozens of Toontrack midis just to see what works and what doesn’t.

Isn’t there an official list for Death & Darkness and the MAIN note for every kit piece and articulation?

Thanks! I am not talking about adding instruments, but the notes of current ones. e.g. Death & Darkness -> Death -> the center crash has 4 notes assigned to the articulation “bow tip”…96, 99, 101 and 104. My question is what notes I can remove in order that all Toontrack midis still work and none of them wants to play e.g. midi note 99, but I removed 99 and only left 96.

Yes, the screenshot looks different because I edited the background.png and added my own band logos. 🙂

My SD3 libraries take up 340 GB, but I only use “Death” (105 GB) + Action/Latin Percussion etc. (2.4 GB)…and one kick of Metal Foundry, one cymbal of “Darkness”…

My audio library is 650 GB in total…and I have two SSDs for audio libraries and games, but don’t want to buy another one.

    Thank you!

So should I delete all notes from a drum piece, then click on “Add suggested note”? Or how do I note the suggested note if there are already 4 notes?

In addition to using Toontrack’s presets, you can buy the ones of Develop Device or Omega Station to name a few. Develop Device creates presets for modern “in your face” sound while Omega Station has some nice 90s kits.

    Thank you!

I found a YouTube video that shows you can change the panning…e.g. a ride is on the right side (default) and how to pan it to the left.

My workaround is to add the ride, add a new x-oh channel…and do everything there…instead of trying to get it right in the default OH channel with the rest of the OH instruments.

I don’t know if there is a better workaround, but mine worked.

Ok, thank you! I am afraid to mess something up when track bouncing them. 😀

My screenshot shows 3.3 at the output… 3.3 was the peak when playing some stock midi. Shouldn’t the volume sum be under 0 db?

    The value I’ve marked pink. 3.3 … shouldn’t it be below 0?

    John,

thank you for your reply! I’ve uploaded my kit. I bought it from a popular producer that creates kits, guitar presets etc. …and want to expand it with additional kit pieces such a 6th tom, some more cymbals (crashes, chinas), a second ride (I am used to it from Guitar Pro and Metal Foundry)…a second hihat because my programming uses variations of open and closed hihats during doublebass so you cannot switch the simulated hihat with the pedal on the fly.

Please download my kit and check out the x-drums on the left side:

instrument 2 uses the channel x-ride
    instrument 6 uses the channel x-china 2

Yes, there is a lot of centered bleeding, but I don’t know why…

    1) The panning of instrument 2 and 6 works when soloing them in the mixer…but not when you unsolo them.
    2) The default chinas and ride have panning…and use the channel OH…my additional instrument 2 and 6 have the same panning and use the same channels…and volume settings…but they do not sound the same. The default chinas in the kit (not x-drums!) are panned to the left and right…and although they have bleeding, they sound on the left and right. The x-drum chinas have the same panning, bleeding and the same settings (OH is selected, not master etc.)…BUT they sound more centered and I don’t know why.

The main ride is panned 76 to the right. I want the x-ride to be panned 76 to the left.
The main chinas are panned 78 to the left and to the right…and I want my x-chinas to be panned 78 to the left and 78 to the right as well.

    How can I do that?

    Here’s a screenshot:

The default china 1 is panned 78 to the left, the default china 2 is panned 78 to the right. They bleed into the center…
Default china 3 is panned 78 to the the right, the default china 4 is panned 78 to the left…they use the exact same bleeding etc. settings…BUT china 3 only has very slight panning and china 4 is completely centered.
