Strangly…in the end, i ended up not using EZdrummer for this at all.

Although after watching those two official video tutorials about it, i could see this being a really cool tool in the future.

So, after working through this for about a week or something, i think i got it done.

You have your song in guitar pro….solo out the drums and export -> to midi file.  Place the midi file on the desktop.  Then in Pro tools, create a instr track.  Resize protools so you can see the desktop and PT at the same time and drag your midi file right into the PT track.  You should then see your midi file laid out like roller for an automatic, self playing, piano.  Then apply Superior drummer to the track and you should start hearing some stuff happening right away.  From there a few things to note….You probably should look into utilizing the multiout function to PT tracks.  There’s youtube tutorials and such.  It just takes all your specific mics and reroutes them to Pro tools tracks.  The other thing is you can double click on the track with the midi file and itll open up the pro tools midi editor.  This’ll let you move hits around and such inside of protools, in case you want to try some things on the fly.  While im thinking about it…there was some hits that are off a little bit.  Like the rimshot just sounds like a normal snare hit if you follow these steps.  What i did, was i created a midi track called drums in Guitar Pro6 made up of every drums hit possible.  then i played it in PT and recorded what Superior Drummer spit out.  About 95% were correct…just some subtle differences.  I havent totally decided what im going to do about that yet.  I can either use some kinda midi editor or just edit the original midi file in GP6.

We’ll see….ill be back to post my progress…
