Yes, the latest updates of EZ Drummer3 and Superior Drummer3 fix the Cakewalk “inserting\instantiating” problem.

Congrats to Toontrack for fixing this “inserting SD3 with EZ Drummer 3” issue in record time!

Both SD3 and EZ Drummer 3 inserting and working as expected, in Cakewalk.

    The only work around is:

    1. to uninstall all EZ Drummers (I have 2 and 3) and uninstall Superior Drummer 3.  Note:  You DO NOT have to uninstall ANY of your samples.
    2. Then you can reinstall any EZ Drummers, except EZ Drummer 3.
    3. Next install Superior Drummer up to the last version, which adds the x64 VST3 plugin.
    4. As long as you don’t install EZ Drummer 3,  you will have EZ Drummer 2 VST2 and Superior Drummer 3 VST 2 and x64 VST3 to work with.

There seems to be an issue with having VST3 versions of both EZ Drummer 3 and Superior Drummer 3 both installed, in Cakewalk.  EZ Drummer 3 just released an update that fixed this issue for EZ Drummer and Cakewalk.

Before this update, I would get a Toontrack crash report if I tried to add either EZ Drummer 3 or Session Drummer 3 in a virgin project in Cakewalk.  As you describe some but not all of my files, with SD3, would open while others would fail.  The files with VST 3 would give a Toontrack crash report.

After adding this EZ Drummer 3 update (3.0.1 I think),  even though the issue is fixed in EZ Drummer,  Session Drummer 3 still gives a Toontrack crash report as before, when adding the VST 3 version of Session Drummer 3. This only happens with the VST 3 version.  The VST 2 version of Session  Drummer 3 works fine.  The problem is if a previous project used the VST 3 of Session Drummer 3, Session Drummer 3 (VST3) is listed as missing.

    After installing Session Drummer 3   (3.3.0) and EZ Drummer 3 ( 3.0.1)

    1. Open a blank project in Cakewalk.
    2. Select the Session Drummer 3 VST3 version from the plugin browser.
    3. As Session Drummer 3 VST version attempts to install, a Toontrack crash error is display and a .dmp file is created.
    4. If Session Drummer 3 VST2 is selected (after step 2), Session Drummer will install correctly.

    Expected results:

    1. Session Drummer VST2 and VST3 would both install correctly, with EZ Drummer 3 (3.0.1) installed.

Actual Results:  With Session Drummer 3 (3.3.0) installed:

    1. After installing EZ Drummer 3 (3.0.1),  Session Drummer 3 (3.3.0) VST3 Crashes with .dmp file.

    Note:

    1. With After installing EZ Drummer 3 (3.0.1) and Session Drummer 3 (3.3.0) would give a crash report and .dmp file.
    2. When EZ Drummer 3 (3.0.1) , is installed, EZ Drummer 3 .0.1 opens fine but Session Drummer 3 (3.3.0) still give a crash report and .dmp file.

Good to hear it’s being fixed soon.  I had Superior Drummer 3 installed with the VST3 but as soon as EZ Drummer 3 was installed, neither Session Drummer 3 or EZ Drummer 3 could be added to a new project.

This seems to point to the VST3 plugin incompatibility when both Superior Drummer 3 and EZ Drummer 3 are installed.

Before you unchecked “hide related vst2 plug-ins”,  was Session Drummer 3 listed in the plugin list before you checked “hide related vst2 plug-ins”?  It should have still shown up.  The “hide related vst2 plug-ins” is to hide a VST2 plugin version when both a VST2 and VST3 version of a plugin are installed.

I am having the same issue with Superior Drummer 3 after I installed EZ Drummer 3.  I have found if you do not update to the latest SD3 update, there is no VST3 version.  For me at least once Superior Drummer (latest update) or EZ Drummer 3 is installed, Cakewalk crashes. An error window opens for Session Drummer 3 pointing to a .dmp file location and file.

    1. I have uninstalled all versions of EZ and Session Drummer, rebooted and then reinstalled all EZ and Session Drummer software.
    2. Opening Cakewalk and adding EZ Drummer 3 or  Session Drummer 3 build 3.3.0 to a new (no tracks) session causes an immediate crash and Session Drummer3 build 3.3.0 error window with link to .dmp file.
    3. This is reproducible every time
    4.  I have included the lates Session Drummer3 3.3.0 .dmp files.

    Note:

    1. This seems to only affect EZ Drummer 3 or  Session Drummer 3 build 3.3.0 ( once the VST3 option is included)
    2. Before the above versions are installed, the vst2 versions of both EZ Drummer 2 and  Session Drummer 3 can be added to projects without issue.
