I don’t think you break the updater. I think the reply means you cannot update the program but still use it. Most of the time when I update a toontrack program, I don’t notice any difference. Maybe after a few years and a few more updates it could affect the program.
The reply was suggesting rather than move the dll file to a different directory, in the Daw try to add the common file directory where the DLL file is located, but for some reason this solution does not always work.
Another solution to the, “not being able to update the program” problem, is to just un- authorize exmix 2, every year or so and re-install it, move the DLL. again to make it work as you did in the past, then it’s updated.
Toontrack should find a software solution to make ez mix and it’s DLL file to automatically install to the correct toontrack directory like ez drummer and ex keys. This problem has been around for years.
I figured it out. First go to windows file explorer
c:/ program files (x86)/Vstplugins/Toontrack and check to see if the EZdll file is there. If not look in Vst steinburg directory or Program files (x86) common files and if you find the ez.DLL file, copy it to the vstplugin Toontrack directory.
Now go to your daw, options, preferences, vst and look for edit path list, and add program files (x86) / vst/ Toontrack
Then do a clear and rescan. Basically your daw needs to now where to look for ez mix, so you add this info in your daw. But if the ezmix DLL file is not there in the windows directory , it won’t work.

Thanked by: Thomas WaltersIt seems to be a common problem for the last 10 years with numerous posts, but not much in a way of a solution on the Reaper forum. They have a posts about finding the DLL. File and moving it into the correct directory, then rescanning. That solution always worked for me, for all plug ins, but not with EZ Mix 2.
I can find EZ drummer 3 and EZ keys 2 in Reaper but not EZ Mix 2.
There is even a Toontrack sub-directory in Reaper plug ins, which includes all my Toontrack programs except EZ Mix, which is the only one I really need, since with the other programs you can save to wave and import to Reaper.
I tried changing time sig to 2/4. Does not work, it just changes the numbering. I just realized the default bars in EZ Drummer 3 for song creator are 8 beats per bar [as opposed to EZ Drummer 2, which are a standard 4 beats per bar. I can’t seem to find anyway to change this in 3.
