^don’t what you’re saying but that guy was my favorite character from Deep Space 9 so thumbs up
With some more mixing, I seem to have gotten rid of the distortion in the other car. The cymbals are now pretty clean in earpods, sports earbuds, 2 cars, monitor speakers and 1 monitor headphones. Still noticeably crunchy in one bluetooth earbuds, and a slight sizzle in a 2nd pair of monitor headphones that seems to emphasize the highs. I’m guessing they do have a little sizzle to them, and it’s more pronounced on certain speakers (or maybe the cheap bluetooth earbuds are giving me what I paid for LOL). But at least it’s not as offensive as it was a few days ago.
On second listening, the Amb Close and Far channels aren’t panned opposite. The Amb Far channel is practically mono. I’d like an explanation (or fix) as to why the Amb Far channel doesn’t sound stereo. The “left” channel is bright and articulate, the “right” channel is roomy with less attack. Panned 100% left and right, it sounds like everything is coming from maybe 50% left. This again screws up the overall stereo image.
Am I supposed to send Amb Far to separate mono tracks and treat each as merely a different flavor of mono room tone?
It would be nice if the expansions came with detailed explanations of the mic setups, not just the kit pieces.
That doesn’t sound at all like what I’m referring to. Now that you have it set up, load Rock Warehouse stock, solo the overhead, then solo the Amb Mid channel. Does the same crash cymbal now sound like it’s coming from the opposite side? Or just solo the Amb Mid channel and see if crash cymbals and toms both sound panned properly. That’s the real issue: toms and crashes are panned opposite each other in the same channel, so you can only have either toms or crashes properly panned in Amb Mid, not both.
I also checked Indiependent’s Amb Mid channel. No issue there. Cymbals and toms both panned in alignment with each other and with all other channels. So I’m pretty confident this is a mistake in Rock Warehouse and hope for a fix (or explanation) VERY SOON. 😓
Removing the instrument from the stack removes it from all MIDI notes that trigger the stack. So that’s not gonna work.
I want a specific instrument in the stack to only be triggered by particular MIDI notes. For example, MIDI note 38 = snare center stack. MIDI note 69 = snare center stack plus a snare with lots more ring.
I’m starting to suspect that you inadvertently crippled a core flexibility of SD2 in replacing MIDI nodes with drum stacks. I hope I’m wrong. To fully translate MIDI nodes to stacks, you need to allow us to modify the stacks by MIDI note.
I suppose in the meantime I could delete the extra instrument from the stack, add a new drum to the kit and assign it to the other MIDI note, and then edit the MIDI performance itself to hit those 2 notes simultaneously when I want that variation in the sound. But please let me know if there’s a way to edit drum stacks by MIDI note.
PS – In trying that, I realized another helpful SD2 feature that may be missing from SD3: ability to audition drums in the mixer window without turning on my MIDI controller and playing. SD2 kept a little audition pad in the bottom right corner. Very useful for auditioning the effect of adjusting bleed, for example.
Well this is embarrassing. I forgot that I had set up my main preset with multi-outs to separate tracks. Tried “apply stereo outputs” and there are my sounds. lol

How do I get the Cocktail EZX to work in EZD2? I downloaded & installed v1.4.0 in my products page, and I see it in the EZD folder (library/app support/ezd), but EZD2 is telling me Cocktail is “damaged.”
???
^I think you got the wrong thread. lol

Hi,
is it possible for you to move the ‘EZdrummer’ folder back to your ‘{Mac HD/Library/Application Support/’ folder?
If so, please do and apply the updates, then move it back.
That worked for everything but Cocktail EZX. Not that I ever use it, but before I move everything back to the external HD, how do I get the Cocktail EZX to work in EZD2? I downloaded & installed v1.4.0 in my products page, and I see it in the EZD folder (library/app support/ezd), but EZD2 is telling me Cocktail is “damaged.”
Oh yeah. Derp! New Macbook Pro 15″ Retina, OS 10.10.4.
I downloaded and installed EZD1 from my products page since I hadn’t yet installed it on the new Mac (and my EZD1 installation DVD wouldn’t work). Then I bought the EZD2 upgrade, downloaded and installed it.
Increasing buffer size didn’t help. Maybe I’m just misunderstanding how this stuff works in general.
(Still in Reaper)
Without engaging EZmix Mastering on the master track, the master fader meters kiss the red clipping zone here and there. Not full on red, and there’s no audible clipping. Level-wise, it’s actually on par with pro recordings, maybe just a couple dB lower, at least perceived. When I turn on EZmix Mastering, it sounds WAY louder, there’s audible clipping, and EZmix’s input meter hits red. So I lower the input gain about 1-2dB till the EZmix clipping indicator is gone, but there’s still audible clipping. It also still sounds way louder than the mix without EZmix Mastering on. I have to lower its input gain another 4-5dB to eliminate all audible clipping. So overall, I have to lower the input gain in EZmix Mastering by 5-6dB to avoid clipping, even with the 2 adjustment knobs all the way down.
On one hand, it makes sense that if the raw mix is already teetering on clipping, that a significant jump in level would make it clip. But why is EZmix Mastering jacking up the volume so much that it audibly clips even when EZmix’s input and output meters show no clipping and even when EZmix’s knobs are at 0?

What sample rate? How big is your Buffer size?
44k/24bit
Here’s a screenshot of the buffer info:

Do you have any effects after (or before) EZmix 2 that clips? It sounds like an effect after EZmix 2 peaks after EZmix 2 has done its wonders
I actually had 2 instances of an effect without realizing it (1 on the track, again on a bus). HOWEVER, even after removing the duplicate effect from the track, there’s no clipping on the individual tracks, bus or master, nor is the input or output meters in EZmix hitting red, but I’m getting clipping. I have to dial down the EZmix input to -3.6dB for it to go away.
