I have it figure out and it’s really frustrating. In the Preferences under playback, I had checked the box “Run FX when stopped” This was because my other midi instruments like piano was ringing out after the notes has stopped. But, unfortunately, this also makes it so ezdrummer 3 won’t playback unless the FX window is open.
So at the moment, if I want to use midi keyboards, I have to leave the ezdrummer 3 FX window open or have my piano notes continually ring.
By resetting Reaper to it’s factory settings, I was able to fix the issue. I must have caused some issues when I set up my M-audio keyboard for midi somehow. Now I have to get that keyboard going again. Hopefully I don’t make the same mistake.
It only happens with EZdrummer 3. I might try uninstalling reaper and reinstalling. It all started happening the same time I installed some free VST3i VI’s from Native Instrument. I wonder if some settings got messed with.
I just started a new project. It still does it with a new project. As soon as I click on the X to close the window, the playback is gone. If I arm the track, it will play again.
When using reaper and ezdrummer 3 (VST3i), The drums will not playback unless I have the track armed or if the drummer window is open. I used to be able to close the drum window and still be able to hear the drums. I have to open the window in order to hear the drums.
Thanks.
