I’m not sure why you’re trying to be argumentative about it, but please stop – it’s not providing any value.
If you don’t want to know people’s opinions then may I suggest if you have an issues with the software that you raise it with the Toontrack team rather than post it in the forums? The whole point of these is to get people’s opinions. As I said above, I’m not suggesting what you’re asking for isn’t useful – just something that I have not come across. If you feel that is argumentative then I feel sorry you can’t appreciate others perspectives.
As for comparing guitar tab to a midi roll I would suggest you’re comparing apples to orange seeds – one is about reading music and one is about creating and playing music. Of course that’s not to say you can’t create music with tab – Guitar Pro anyone? I’ve never seen anyone create a score and play it live with that though or on YouTube even; just like I’ve just never come across people trying to read midi instead of music notation or something like tab. No one said it’s wrong though, so I’m sorry for disagreeing with your statement above; but no – I’m not arguing with you.
Case in point.

That’s agreeing with you.
Forgive me sonicviz but the last time I saw guitar tablature they didn’t write the names of each note next to the numbers. Not to say what you’re asking for isn’t useful – just not something I’ve ever come across is all.

I guess not no – but forgive me as I don’t usually try to sight read midi tracks.
Not sure if the grid editor was there in SD2 – if you need to alter patterns like that I can heartily recommend upgrading to SD3 if you can’t do it in 2 – I don’t have any form of MIDI controller – either drums or pads – but with the MIDI editor in SD3 I don’t need it.
it does show the notes if you hover over the midi blocks and the piano roll at the side can help you figure out what note you’re looking at.
If you try to draw in the slides on adjacent notes like that EZBass freaks out – you have to draw the slides on the D string first, then later in the MIDI track draw them onto your G string and then use the move tool to move those higher / lower notes back in line with the notes on the D string.
If you try to add a slide onto the MIDI grid where there are two options (two notes) EZBass isn’t clever enough yet to know which one you want it to slide to – even if you have it selected. It just throws it up or down an octave. But build it as a single note track and then move the power chord 5ths back in line with the roots and it works fine.
I’d file this in the same bucket as all the guys asking to be able to pick which virtual string their EZBass plays…
Patisajiw – why do you need your virtual guitar to be tuned down half a step when you don’t actually put it on your lap and play it with fingers / picks? As Mattias says above: You tell the software which notes to play and it plays them.
You can change any of the EZKeys chords the same way you can in EZBass using the Chord Wheel
I didn’t get it. It’s pretty expensive and I can get near enough that tone from the other two by using EQ etc.
I was interested to see how many new grooves it came with and what they were like but haven’t heard many examples..
I’m beginning to wonder if I am invisible on this forum, I have put a few posts up and got no replies at all?

Not invisible Andy – I can relate to your thought process – I’m not sure that the sound of the bass has advanced that much in recent years (sorry bassists – just what I listen to not putting you down at all) so for me it’s about getting the right bass part. Honestly with the way you can import tracks into EZBass to get a good bass track I don’t even use the supplied MIDI that much.
So if it sounds the same why do you want to see it play on a different part of the screen? If it sounds the same there is no point Toontrack wasting their time coding it.
I noticed this as well Ken. Given you save nearly 120 Euro’s on the full price SDX kits when you buy the NY Bundle it’s a shame they didn’t decide to discount that as well. For new SD3 users like myself if the three NY packs were available for 40% less it would have been a complete no-brainer. I guess we’ll have to wait for Black Friday to see if there are any other enticing offers.
Hi Rod I don’t think the NY Avatar material is in SD3 – it was released as the NY Studios Vol. 1 SDX and comprises material that was in Superior Drummer 2 – for those of us that didn’t jump on the bandwagon that soon we don’t have it so it was offered as an SDX.
Whats wrong with the Ez bass desktop icon?
Nothing why what’s your problem with it?
