OK, thnx, i’ll give it a try, but can i move those presets elsewhere than in the users SD3 folder, as said i prefer all in one place and NOT my boot drive … too many times i had to reinstall an old boot image when windows starts sucking up. J

Stutters and sometimes dropouts? Have a look at tuning your graphics card drivers:

    ———————————————————————————

Performance Tip for AMD GPU users for stutter/lag

Microstuttering and laggy playback is an all-too-known issue with any gaming system, and some good people on the net have come up with a possible issue with AMD installs:

AMD installs a service to write to the Event Log called ATIeRecord. If your event logs are huge and/or fragmented, then this service will record while you are gaming, and the recording lag from bad fragmented system files will hammer your performance with lags and stutters.

    The fix?  Disable the service:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Atierecord]
    “eRecordEnable”=dword:00000000

Set to “1” by default which enables it. Disable it by setting it to “0” …………….

NOTE: If you install, re-install or update the AMD Radeon drivers it is set back to ‘1’ !!

Also USB needs to be tuned, switch OFF power management, and there’s more … J

Yeah, all those selfish dumbo drumbox vst makers have one goal LoL: don’t let the other children play my sandbox; we also won’t allow their toys any access …

PS i reinstalled the lot according TT ‘rules’, then used the official GrooveMonkey installer … BINGO, here we go again …. ain’t no fun anymore.

You got some luxury problem LoL, as SD3 is so versatile, that one can loose himself searching. Want mellower snares, Indiependant is a good choice f.i. I like N.Y vol 3 too …. if you take the time to construct and save the kit you put together as .sd3 file, you’ll be off with a lot more fine tuning & editing possible as with AD2. And you can get rid of the reverbs, look for the dry kits, or switch them off when possible. J

Also: do you use your UFX with Firewire or USB? ==> USB and windows need some tweaks to get it right.

    • I found a solitary USB buss with it’s own controller chip a necessary thing. Bought an expensive card, Sonnet 4x FL1100 USB3 controller, it a needs PCIe socket with 4 PCIe lanes.
    • You can remove all unneeded USB drivers from your system with a free tool: USBdeview.exe. All white ones are leftovers from removed hardware, and you can safely un install them: don’t remove the mouse and keyboard ones … !
    • Switch of Power Management for ALL USB hubs in device manager.  (Switch off Windows Update PERMANENTLY with windows update switch, because it keeps activating it). See picture 1.
    • Advisable is to turn off fast startup, picture 2, as it leaves some earlier left over settings active maybe.

well, just found it was something really stupid …. some midi file import settings were wrong in cubase:

A Thanks. I have been trying to reproduce the syncing issue i had with a fresh Cubase 10 song, changing tempos per beat in a 4/4 count. ramping tempo etc … found no problems. SD3 slaved OK.

I think it has to do with the imported midi file, as i found some other errors with it regarding programmed tempo changes in it. So you can mark this post as solved (i cannot edit the header my self) , and if i find were my problem came from i will report of course. I still had it with the Cubase project file as such, but i edited the exported SD3 parts in Cubase, as it needed finishing  …. J

Hi Henrik. Tried a new project, fresh cubase tempo track, and SD3 followed OK.

The file with the tempo changes was an imported midi Type 1 file from another music program. Tempo changes came from that …..

Created a new SD3 track, and it runs also out of sync.

I exported the created midi for the whole song file in SD3 by dragging it out on the allocated SD3 instrument track, and timing seems to work with the export, but on one SD3 part there was a slight offset of the midi notes halfway through around the tempo change, seen in Cubase thus …

Looking again at the tempo track with the problems, i saw that the imported  temp changes from 125bpm were at 8.3.1.0 to 126, and at 9.1.1.0 to 127.

So i guess that SD3 doesn’t eat tempo changes within a (4/4) bar ?  i changed it  so 8.1.1.0 and 9.1.1.0 (at the bar starts) were used instead, and SD3 follows that OK it seems.

Also what i miss in creating songs in SD3, is an adjustable tempo map, also for bar count changes like an inserted 2/4/bar in a 4/4/ song. Maybe it’s there, but i couldn’t find it … J

PS EZkeys suffers from the same problems i just found out,  it can’t slave properly with a tempo change positioned at halfways through a bar …

PS …  ISN’T THERE A MIDI CONTROLLER OR SOME CONFIG EDIT TO SWITCH FOLLOW HOST OFF FROM WITHIN A MIDI TRACK  ?????

This essential fix should have been done a long time ago, it’s the same with Cubase. I stopped using SD3 for now, it’s spoiling my workflow, as i keep forgetting to check it each and every time: VERY ANNOYING !!! ….  Should be an ‘easy’ fix; it’s not with EZdrummer.

Thanks. Isn’t the cause that both EZdrummer 2 and SD3 use the same database?

The fun part is that EZdrummer has no problems with it.

Throughout the years i bought quite a few  3rd party and occasion Toontrack MIDI packs and SDXs etc, plus some imported user stuff like exports from other drum VSTs .. tends to get messy because of that.

So i guess i should rename this folder “M:\! EZdrummer 2 SOUNDS\Midi”  on my PC, where midi is located and install all the midi’s again?

There’s also a midi data folder installed here, “M:\! TT SD3 SOUNDS\Midi”  with far less data in it; maybe that’s wrong then.  J
