Because I am trying to learn how to use this software and this is only solution I came up with.
I don’t even know what a midi block is or how to copy and paste where I need it.
im trying to learn taking baby steps.
thanks but I don’t know how.
i would like this feature also.
I have been making all my own drum parts.
sorry for the late reply. If i could drum i would get a set. I’m 66 years old and can’t drum.
Do I bring from SD3 into my DAW?
Put on track and open in DAW midi editor?
Thanks
I have been using plugin while i track in my DAW. I do not put a drum track in my DAW. As I’m typing and opening my DAW to access SPD3 I see beats atop timeline and its in grid editor. I think that is what i’m looking for as far as timing. My biggest problem is going from either verse to chorus or vice versa. From last note of chorus to first on verse. i guess.
my method is. i all ready know song on guitar. I want to get a good Tommy Lee drum track.
so i tap out my beat in song creator. I found what i liked for what it offered me as a basic hi hat snare kick beat at correct BPM to go along with my guitar.
i put a verse on time line and a chorus then another verse. I play my guitar over that while making changes to each verse or chorus (Different colors on timeline) till i get what i like as far as timing. but its all by ear as far as timing. i can stretch or shorten each drum part which changes timing. That is how I’m struggling to have timing correct from beginning to end.
yes im using as plugin.
I’m using as a plugin. I make all my changes using SPD3. When drum part is the way I want I will bounce and bring into my DAW and put it on a track and export finished song.
I’m using Acoustica Mixcraft 9 pro studio.
Yes I have button on to follow host. And SPD 3 and my DAW are the same BPM.
Let me explain a little clearer if i can.
If I take a mixcraft drum loop and put it on my Mixcraft timeline for 3 minutes at 95 BPM. The metronome will be right in time with drum loop.
I can play along with that loop till end. From verse to chorus all the through and be on time.
But when I’m creating drum notes in grid editor and making drum notes all the way through I have no way to my knowledge to keep all drum notes through song in metronome time.
I’m putting in notes myself. for example. the part with the verse.”wild thing I think I love you ” drum drum drum “but I want to know for sure” drum drum drum “come on and hold me tight” drum drum drum “I think I love you” I’m covering song in same vain as Sam Kinison and Hendrix drumming very similar to Tommy Lee.
So those drum parts have a lot of space between them and I don’t know how to make sure timing will be consistent.
I’m still not happy with my work flow.
when I’m using a click track we’ll say that I go from verse to chorus then verse to chorus again then to playing lead guitar over verse and chorus . If I was using click track I want to hit it at that point into song right on time. How can I make sure drum hits are right on time with a click track?
This will help me to have correct timing through out a song on future projects.
I want to be able to count and at 30 bars in for example to be on time with what ever part of music it should be.
your definitely correct.. And thank you for your help
