no, ezk track on daw is empty, so ezkeys midi is playing only from the plugins tracks. no double duty
other tracks (like EZ Basss, EZ Drums3) have been converted to audio

To make sure I restarted my DAW and tried again and “follow host” was functioning normally…

    | UNTIL I made any kind of edit in EZkeys,  then it stopped syncing again. I had to leave working in EZKeys to click anywhere in the DAW and hit play before going back to edit in EZKeys. Repeat. Repeat .Makes working in the grid editor a real pain

So, my guess at whats happening is that making any edit in EZkeys makes it lose its “follow host” functionality.

Its been working great until recently  Everything is up to date.

If they have abandoned the project, fine, but they have a moral and ethical responsibility to sell software that works. EZKeys doesn’t work at all as of June 2022, yet Toontrack continues to sell the nonfunctional products and expansions, to make false claims that the product is just fine, and do nothing to support their product. This is both immoral, unethical, disrespectful, arrogant  and probably illegal.
They owe us paying customers an explanation, and failing that, pull the products from the market.

Just for the record, new DAWs have a feature called the chord track, which essentially does the same thing as EZKeys, minus the cool midi packs they make(which are great but useless outside of the non-functioning EZKeys. Except, I just figured out a way to extract the midi for use externally, though the process is slow and clunky, at least I can use the midipacks I paid good money for.

Its a shame, really, because EZKeys was once a wonderful product and one of my absolute favorite. Not any more.
Other Toontrack products  I own, like EZBass and EZDrums 2 (and3) are absolutely fantastic.Toontrack, your silence tells us everything we need to know about you as a company and as people.

Adam, To0ntrack employee? It doesn’t sound like you are using the same software as me.

The issue with me is EZKeys DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. It hasent been updated in years and is obviously an abandoned project that Toontrack unethically continues to sell and publish expansions for. But if you have a modern computer or DAW, it’s a brick.

that’s a lame answer, you  stopped supporting EZK years ago. Your contempt for your customers is appalling.

I question the ethic of selling a product that is no longer supported.

then please stop selling a defective product. I have 3 ezkeys instruments and d dozen midi packs. On older machines it worked a treat, now its a brick, first the scaling issue, now ezkeys just doesn’t work at all, tried in Reaper, Studio One and Sonar. Get with the program, Toontrack, this is 2021, computer tech has changed while product has failed to keep up with the times.

I don’t know Logic, but in StudioOne I have to hold a modifier key (alt, ctrl etc) to drag a vanilla midi file into ezkeys, have you tried something like that? seems S1 adds crap to the midi files to “improve user experience” and EZK only accepts vanilla. No where is this fact documented, as far as I can tell.

I was dismayed to see the GUI showing a 5 string bass (a specialist instrument IMO)

I play a little, still need the visual cue of where the E string is to orient myself, the extra string confuses me .

That’s not as EZ as it could be, eh?

    Update
Thanks to John for the prompt reply

Removed the audio interface from the chain and set from ASIO to MME. Dreampop still blows out the audio interface but usually only while loading, Connected the audio interface via a powered hub and all works “OK” but only in MME mode. So it seems the interface was not getting enough power. Since I rarely record to my laptop this is an acceptable workaround. If I need to go ASIO to key in a few notes I can always freeze the drum tracks.

I’ll fool around with the buffer settings some other time, see if I can tweak a little more. Need to research “buffer settings” a bit so I have a better idea what I am doing. I find that playing with settings you don’t understand is rarely productive, and usually makes things worse. A LOT worse.

    Conclusion
Duocapture Audio interface needs more juice than my laptop can supply
4gb RAM is borderline memory for using Dreampop EZX in a Sonar X3
Dreampop EZX will not operate on my laptop in ASIO (probably due to low RAM as well).

Again, it all works great on my 24ggb PC with a Focusrite AI
