So I had some success last night and came here to share in case others in the future are in the same position as I was. I was using the UMONE Roland Midi to USB cable plugged into my Roland TD20 drum unit. I had the ends plugged in just like how the Roland cables are labeled. Midi input to Midi in on the Roland and Midi Out/Through to Midi Out on the Roland. I had Location on the Roland Turned off in the midi settings on the Roland Drum unit and the tab on the UMONE set to “Comp”. Superior drummer still said “Waiting for Midi”. I thought it would automatically load everything but no, it was waiting for me to strike my pads. As soon as I gave my snare a good solid hit, it registered and all the pads pulled up in Superior Drummer 3. I had a blast playing through all the EZX and Superior Drummer kits Ive purchased over the years last night. So much so I got 4hrs of sleep before work.

Special thank you to drumjack52 for suggesting using Snoize app to narrow down if I had a midi problem, Snoize showed me I did not have a bad cable which made me realize It was a superior drummer issue which turned out to not be an issue at all but just a misunderstanding on how the software registers your external drum/midi device.

    Thanks to everyone who responded.

The UMONE has written on the ends of the cables where youre supposed to plug in which I have plugged in correctly, When i run snoize the way you describe it, i get no data at all. But when I run the way the cables describe the input/output they are supposed to run to I get data from Snoize.

Yes I have the two MIDI connections running to the td20. Midi in to midi in and midi out to midi out and then usb to my computer. I have the UMONE checked on midi device section as well. I have Local off and I get nothing, the superior drummer software just says “Waiting for MIDI” I got it working a few months ago but for some reason I can’t remember what I did to get it working.

Thanks for the respose. Yes im using the cable because the unit only has midi out and not USB I am connected to the correct ports and I am also going direct into my computer and not into a hub.
