I have done fairly well price wise. Which and what is costing so much! It is good to judge where the market goes before it goes there. Like any money project before xmas and two/three months after!

Yes. You have to select the correct sound output driver on your computer to get the sound to your mixer. The USB driver is best because it is the cleanest sound.

The fact you are getting the sound out of your computer is a good thing. You don’t say how you are connecting to the mixer/amp. I connect to my external mixer via USB. My mixer has a driver on my computer which I select when I want the sound to go there. If your external mixer does not have a USB port. You will have to connect direct from the sound output/s on your computer into the mixer. So you will need the right cables to do that.

You can just about get any snare sound in SD3. That sounds like an electronic snare to me. So the electronic sounds would be the best place to start. I found a few snare sounds in the Richard Devine – Electronica collection that are a good starting place. You can then go into the Mixer and tweak it by adding EQ, Dynamics and Distortion.

However being an ex drunk drummer I use UAD plugins. So I can only speak for them. I use the EL Distsessor on them. So that messes the sound up big time.  It brings the symbols out so I can play with them. I then I put them into a DBX 160. So what I am really doing is disrtorting the sound and then cleaning it up! So you can use your favorite things to do that.

@shootiehg A lot of people don’t notice the search.

Proof of a crap design. It would surely be better if everyone noticed the search window.

Thank you. The reason I ask is that when locating them in Cubase or any DAW, it useful to know what you are looking for.

This is something that has confused me too. Not just with Superior Drummer 3 but also EzKeys and EzBass. I have seen a VST3 link in Cubase for one of them. Is there a better place to ask this question? The answer yes and no just adds to the confusion.

Yes the graphics changing to a four string bass would be a nice touch!

There are many 3rd party plugins that will do the job.  I would advise creating a group for snare, hi hats an symbols. As using distortion on the master bus will affect the whole mix. I used to use Quadrafuzz V2 which comes with Cubase to distort them. I now use UAD Empirical Labs Distressor as it does a better job. As Bear-Faced Cow above says using a compressor in front of it works best. Most DAW software come with some sort of distortion plugin. It is a matter of trial and error to get the sound you want.
