John that sounds perfect! I will try that when I get back to my studio

Thanks yeah Toon track told me to watch I think the same video! and it worked, I just needed to change CC16 to CC4 but the roland brain didn’t use the term “CC” so I was confused at first 🙂

FYI there is a manual if you go to the help section of SD3, but it is not in PDF format. But there is more info than just the forums, if thats what you meant 🙂

My instructions attempt to decode the process that is barely glazed over in the manual (with almost no screenshots) and very vague descriptions of complicated processes. My instructions may not be perfect, but I often get emails thanking me that I finally made sense of the extremely painful and overly unintuitive process of hi-hat setup Superior Drummer forces onto it’s users. And yeah, I would love if Superior Drummer provided a clear and intuitive way of mapping these things, or if they merely would help it’s users by describing the process in detail so that it makes sense.
In the meantime, my blog post will continue to help users of your product manage make enough sense of this convoluted process so that they can spend less time scratching their heads and troubleshooting, and more time playing the drums.
If you would like to improve Superior Drummer (which is a great product overall), please have your developers read my walk-through, which points out some of the overly confusing and unintuitive steps it’s users are left to figure out. The process might make sense to the developers, but to the average user, it’s a mess.

Last year I spent several hours decoding the manual and putting together an elaborate explanation of the process [ http://www.graysonkilmer.com/2015/09/03/how-to-setup-the-hi-hat-pedal-in-superior-drummer-2 ] . This covers pretty much the whole scope of the process in much more elaborate detail than their confusing manual page.

If your note is triggering the wrong sample, if could be assigned as the wrong sample somewhere. As you see in my instructions, there are a couple places it could be setup incorrectly. I haven’t messed around with this software since last year so I don’t think I will be able to guide you beyond that.

I should also mention that I did not understand this part of the SD2 manual “The HatsTrig values must match the notes (and ALL the notes) sent by your module when you hit your hi-hat pad.”
