John:
I want to thank you and Mick for hitting this issue on my behalf. You guys rock and I recommend Toontrack to others whenever I can.
I love EZD3 (been a drummer for 55 years) and hope to upgrade to Superior when I upgrade my computer capacity. It’s great to know your support team jumps on problems and sticks with it until resolved.
Thanks again and rock on!

Thanked by: John and Mick AvoidantJohn, that makes complete sense. I didn’t even consider the Humanize setting. Thanks, man.
Yes, I think that might be the best way, since I frequently open that dropdown anyway…just set it and leave it. Thanks.

Hey John,
I’m one of those “knows enough to be dangerous” guys when it comes to tech so I apologize. I’m probably doing something that is not normal function.
I don’t mean to be confusing. What I was trying to say with the articulation is that I select a kit and with whatever snare drum I choose, I make sure the default for the stroke articulation is set to Center rather than the Rimshot for the fatter stroke tone – see the snare1 picture. I always assumed the articulation dropdown was for selecting the default stroke sound you want to produce when working with that drum in the grid editor.
I create my drum tracks by opening the grid editor and constructing my drum line essentially beat by beat, drum by drum, cymbal by cymbal. I don’t know if this is normal functionality but it works great for me. In the Grid, when I open the Snare down-arrow, I can select Center, Rimshot, or Sidestick. When I create a flam, I’ll mark the main stroke on the Center grid line and add a Rimshot stroke offset using either 1/64 or 1/32 time to create a punchier flam effect…see snare2 picture. I know I can do the same thing on the one Center line as in snare3 picture but it doesn’t snap as well.
When I complete the flam using Center and Rimshot, I usually close the Snare dropdown and continue adding my regular snare strokes as usual. See snare4 picture.
If I open the Snare dropdown later on, note the single grid strokes have now moved to Rimshot – snare5.
In my non-tech mind, I assumed that since the articulation is set for the drum as Center, any strokes added in Grid Editor without specifying Center, Rimshot, or Sidestick would default to Center. I guess it doesn’t work like that.
Sending 4 and 5 picture in another reply.
Don’t worry about it if I’m doing some kind of user-generated fantasy functionality. My assumption is probably incorrect. Thanks for dealing with this. I’ll just be more observant in the future.

Hi Mick –
All of them, even the defaults in EZD3. But the one I demoed in the pix was the Hard Rock/Champs. If I create a flam, the primary articulation will switch from center to rimshot.
I may be oversimplfying here but you must set the time signature BEFORE you import midi or add tracks. If you set tracks and then try to change from 4/4, it will revert, at least in my experience.
Mick is correct. You can audition the hi-hat sounds of each simply by clicking on each selection in the list.

See attachment. This is the tuning control under Drums tab.

Thanked by: Austin_48 and Scott EshlemanHi. I’m a fellow user. When you say it doesn’t work, how is it not working? Do you see EZD in your plug-ins list? Are you planning to use a midi controller to create or are you creating drum patterns in EZD?

I have precisely the same experience when trying to arrange tracks as sub-groups like described above. I make sure to ID the last track. My outputs remain the same…but no sound output when organizing tracks like this. Any assist appreciated.
Hello. I have 4 updates boxes under EZ Keys that do not ever close despite multiple installations. See attached screenshot. I’d like to close these and have the “Ready to Use” check illuminate. May I have assistance on accomplishing this, please? Thanks.
