    Check the mixer levels.

Create your own pattern with all notes the same velocity and see what happens there.

What exactly should I be listening for? High pitched? Low pitched? What? Listening on high quality Adam cans and JBL LSR308 monitors.

You don’t need an enclosure. Put the 2TB SSD with a StarTech adapter in the drive bay replacing your SD3 drive. Should work without issues

    jord

Even better is to put that ssd on a pcie card and in the card cage right next to the video card. In my 2012 MacPro I have a 1TB ssd as my system drive in the slot next to the video card and a 2 TB ssd in the other pcie slot for my samples. This way the transfer speed will be roughly double what it is in a drive bay. Move all the samples to that ssd. 2 drive bays open. Third drive bay has a 4TB 7200 rpm spinner for sessions and the 4th drive bay has a 4TB 7200 rpm spinner for backups where I keep ALL my installers. System and sessions backups are on external drives that are disconnected when not needed.

Using an external drive isn’t a deal breaker, so I’ll check into that As well . Any brand of hard drive you’d recommend? I have A 2009 Mac (usb 2.0)

    thanks

What specific 2009 Mac do you have? Desktop? Laptop? Doubtful that USB 2.0 will be fast enough for decent loading times. Do you have an unused Firewire 800 port? Either way you should go to OWC and see what they have – the people there should be able to help you. Ordinarily I’d say to get a housing and put in an SSD of one’s choice on the fastest connection you have.

I think the op is talking about the devil and not the space it takes up.

Hi I’m a very happy sd3 user using my fav sdx, death and darkness. I’m not overly sensitive I like to think, but I’d love to remove the devil banner from the drums gui.

With respect, I feel it looks childish and for a very pro product in every respect I feel it looks kinda amateur. Even if it were a simple black screen it would be fine.

Pls let me know if it is possible to remove the image?

    Thanks

Is there some other real reason you want to remove it? I don’t think it looks childish or amateur. To tell the truth I don’t even think about it. It lets me know visually what library I’m working in without having to think about it.

But to answer your question – there’s no way to change it from an end user’s point of view.

Robert and Jack, by unanimous verdict I will contact Toontrack sometime next week if they don’t magically turn up on this thread in the meantime.

I’d contact support anyways. Don’t wait for them to come on here. They might not see this. It doesn’t cost anything to log a formal complaint except for the time spent doing it. That way you know it’ll be visible to those who need to know.

Robert, should I contact Toontrack’s support? I thought somebody from the company would monitor these forums so they would notice my post here.

It never hurts to contact tech support. Developers, even though it’s their forum, don’t always monitor threads. And the more people that do so will make it more visible and a wide-spread issue.

Yes I am – it’s one of many instruments I play. And SD3 can do some unreal things with it’s samples that wouldn’t be possible in a real drum.

I ran into the same thing as you – tried some of the presets and internal plugins in SD3 and they just don’t measure up to what I have available as external plugins like from Brainworx/Plugin Alliance, Fabfilter or other developers. Yeah some of the presets sound sorta ok but the individual plugins – nope. Take the internal 1176 emulation – acts like no other 1176 emu I have. The advantage I have is I don’t use the internal mixer as such but output each kit piece as individual tracks treating SD3 like I would a real physical drum kit. I might group the toms together on one channel and output that to my daw (PT) but that’s about it.

    Ok professor.
The bandwidth is obviously a factor.
However , that is not the issue here.
The same bandwidth in question performed perfectly before the update.

Ive been working with digital audio since the mid 90’s when we need scsi drives terminated and 100 mb drives were a luxury. I know a bad design when I run into it.  My external Tb3 drives are more than fast enough.
As far as my post sounding like I know everything , sorry if I came off as arrogant. I do know quite a bit about digital audio production. I’m sorry if I’m working at a higher level than most users. This is not a hobby for me.
I love SD3 , it is one of the finest pieces of software I’ve ever used.  I wish you would slow down and think about the realities of this issue. I know when I say “bug” it’s hyperbole , that’s on purpose.
The main issue I have with your response is that you are trying to diminish the importance of an issue that has presented itself. The 3 people I work with closely who use SD3, on 3 different rigs, all agree that the splash screen sucks.

Trying to argue with Bear-Faced Cow based on logic is a losing proposition. He’s been like that for decades and on other forums. He never admits he’s wrong or that there might be another piece of the puzzle to look at. He refuses to see that a system that worked perfectly before is having an issue with the last update. Near as I can figure out Toontrack did not change the specs for the program as regards operating system or hardware.

That’s about the silliest thing you’ve ever said and I’ve caught you in many of them over the years! Man that gave me a good laugh!

You’re also proving just as you did then that when you don’t have a point, resort to a little trolling tactics.

I already told you, my system specs, perhaps with the exception of the addition of two 2TB SSD drives, haven’t changed and the logo is only 3 secs on my unit.

There seems to be some confusion about who’s replying to who.
This forum is not clear with the wording on the email notifications.

You got that right. This forum doesn’t have the best software whether here on the net or email replies. There’s no possibility of sending a PM, no ‘ignore’ feature, no ‘check post before you post it’ and when you quote someone you don’t see what said quote is. Near as I can see there’s no place to lodge a complaint about the forum s/w.
