Something I would say to try is to get the free MIDI-OX utility and run it standalone and see what comes up on your computer screen. It will tell you what MIDI messages are being sent by your drum brain. That will nail whether you need to go further looking for a remedy in SD3 or what.

After many system update the battery mode was set to default (balanced) even when I connected to the power supply it didn’t set on high performance (before it did). So after setting high performance everything was fine, also I can play with the td50x driver at 48 buffer size with no audio problems. Thank you for reminding me of this big little detail!
Also don’t forget to turn off power savings measures to the USB ports. Windows turns them off after a certain amount of unknown time. The little power that power saving saves you isn’t worth the hassle of losing your USB connections.

I was just referencing what you said about
“No need to do all that. Simply change the instrument on Logic’s Drummer track to SD3 and change SD3’s drum mapping to Apple -> Logic Drum Designer.”
I was just wondering what page/setting “change SD3’s drum mapping to Apple -> Logic Drum Designer.” happens in SD3?
You do that on the MIDI In/e-drums tab in ‘settings’.

Thanked by: Bear-Faced CowI never asked too many questions, everything worked fine before, thank you for the advice. Do you have any good quality/price models to recommend?
YOu are the only one that can make that choice because it depends on how much you are willing to spend. You have to look at how much I/O you need now, how much you might need in the future, how much space do you have, etc. And don’t forget to add the cost of good monitor speakers to that. Quality audio I/O ain’t cheap.

I don’t have an audio interface, so far I’ve always done it with asio4all, but I had a pc with windows 10, this is my first experience with win11. Yes, before starting sd3 I turn off the wifi.
You need a real audio interface. What’s built into a computer isn’t fit for anything except for maybe watching YouTube videos. You spent big bucks for a premium piece of software so there’s no reason to skimp on the audio output electronics. Built-in audio I/O is done to the cheapest of specs.

What’s your audio interface? If it has it’s own drivers you have no need for ASIO4ALL. Those drivers are the absolute worst things around. What other stuff do you have running when trying to use your drum setup? Wireless internet can play havoc with audio.

Ah yes I didn’t install them. My bad lmao
Thank yall for your patience
Is it absolutely necessary that the installation location and download location are separate folders?
Not necessary but recommended. You do know that the MacOS has a folder in the Dock marked just for downloads right? That’s normally where downloads should go and you don’t install stuff there. As an FYI the samples for SD3 don’t have to be in the same folder or even drive as the program itself. Just tell the Installer where to put them and make sure that SD3 knows the location. People with large amounts of sample libraries tend to have a separate drive just for samples.

I know a few people using Sonoma with SD3.
What do you mean when you say “no sound”? Is your instrument channel routed to an output? Do you have MIDI? If so, do you see anything in SD3’s mixer?
jord
I think there’s something else going on. OP says he hasn’t used his system in a few months and he’s on Sonoma? Didn’t that just drop to the public a little over a month ago? He could have fallen to the old bugaboo with Mac’s and that is installing a whole new MacOS right over the top of the old install. That can lead to all sorts of incompatibilities. That you have friends running Sonoma with no problems means they’re lucky.

@drumjack52
So, I got the midi tracking software snoize. It shows I am getting exactly what SD3 says it’s getting. This is now with the USB cable direct from the TD50x. I have managed to assign my extra pads, however, it seems that when I learn from one pad, even though NONE are touching etc… it can then imprint the learn on another existing instrument I didn’t pick. I find the whole process a complete and utter PITA!. I am feeling old and curmudgeonly. After 2 hours of thinking I finally had my pads all working, I am done for the day LOL. It’s really not intuitive the way it works. A better way would be being able to choose on a right click on each drum piece somehow.

MIDI mapping on SD3 is a nightmare and not as easy as the manual would have one to believe. Wish I could help more but I can’t. If you find a solution let us all know.

I haven’t used my setup in months. I opened up Logic and loaded some past recordings. SD3 is there. Loads fine. Plays through BUT no sound from SD3. I checked everything. Removed any plugins on the SD3 stereo channel. Nothing. Stuck.
Opening up SD3 stand alone works perfect. Never had an issue before. Everything is fully up to date.

Did your system work before you updated to Sonoma? As of right now SD3 is not considered compatible with Sonoma. That being said check your routing in Logic and that no tracks are muted.

Yes yes and yes.
I am using Product Manager, and yes I changed the download location to a folder within my external drive.
All the libraries were there, it still wouldn’t detect them even after diverting the library path there.
And then after launching it a couple of times it deleted the entire contents of that folder.
I haven’t modified anything at all I’ve just followed the download instructions from the product manager and this has happened.
The drive is brand new.
You only have yourself to blame as apparently you never actually installed the libraries.

I’m not sure, I’m a bit of a midi newb. How would I go about checking that?
You’d have to check the documentation for Logic Drummer yourself. Doesn’t have anything to do with being a newbie with MIDI but being up on what the program can do.
