Thanks, Wolfgang! But I can only increase the overall level of a kit piece, e.g. the hithat and not for individual articulations, right?

Drumjack, so? I am just asking questions in my thread. Wolfgang has been really helpful. Why complain in my thread? The ride is loud…if it is barely audible, you either have faulty speakers or it’s your room or you think the ride cymbal is something else. Apart from the china cymbal, the ride is the second loudest kit piece in the video.

I’m listening on the JBL LSR 308’s in my studio. I know what a ride cymbal is and how it sounds and how loud it can get but with the blastbeats in your video it’s barely audible. All I hear is a ticking sound. Every other kit piece is WAY louder than the ride. It’s physically impossible when playing blastbeats to get really loud sounds from a ride as the hits are never hard enough to get a decent loud sound. They’d have to crank the mics in the mix to get it loud.

But hey what do I know – only been doing this for over 5 decades. Both sides of the glass.

Do you mean the death metal drumming video? The ride is loud?!? I don’t know what you mean. The red one is the ride, right? It is a general thread on hihats and rides and what to hit, names of kitpieces etc.

    • This post was modified 1 year, 3 months ago by LeanderL.

You started asking about hats and now you’re adding in rides. It seems like you have several problems that are going beyond what this thread started out as. Go back and re-read what I wrote and you’ll see that I said the ride was barely audible but the crashes and chinas were really loud.

I barely hear the hits on his ride cymbal. The crashes and chinas – no problem but not that much on the ride. What exactly are you chasing? First you talk about hats and now rides – I’m confused. And for the love of all that is drumming do not write parts that no real world physical drummer can play. A real drummer can only play a max of 4 hits at one time.

Perfectly understandable what you wrote. So you went through all the usual suspects which is good. One of the things you may be experiencing is that not every kit was played by the same drummer; different SDX’s and different drummers so you’re going to get variations. Another could be the variations in cymbals from say Paiste to Zildjian to Sabian and to different hats within the manufacturer. Like I said hats are probably the most difficult cymbal to work with.

Part of getting an acoustic sound out of any SDX is to work with the bleed controls. That and working with the controls on your drum brain. Please explain what you mean by your statement on the hihats. Getting a good (to you) sounds on hats is a problem even with acoustic kits. Some of that entails with mucking about with the physical setup.

I do see by a picture of his control room at Clubhouse’s website there is a tape machine on the right hand side of the picture. Don’t know if it was used in the capture or not though. https://clubhouseny.com/recording/

It really is working fine. What I did was move the Nashville EZX library along with the Toontrack folder from my boot drive to my B sample drive and put it in the Superior 3 folder. I then checked the settings in Superior 2 and 3 in Cakewalk and made sure I pointed to the Nashville drums. The network had absolutely nothing to do with it.

IOW you ignored what Jord told you to do. I give up.

Gerry: You’re lucky you got it working but I have to wonder what you really did to get it so. I still wouldn’t use drive letters A: and B: as you don’t know what programs really look at. Did you do what Jord said to do? Some how I think there’s more going on than what you’re telling us; now all of a sudden you’re telling us you have 5 computers networked together? That kind of info might well have helped us to diagnose what’s going on. There’s no such thing as TMI when asking for help with computer systems.

When I first got S2 it installed in this folder
    B:\SUPERIOR DRUMS
    with these 2 folders
    EZX_Nashville
    SL-Avatar

When I installed S3, it’s library was in this folder
    B:\SUPERIOR DRUMS 3\SL-SuperiorDrummer3

currently my Nashville EZX is here
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Toontrack\EZDrummer\EZX_Nashville

So after I delete EZX_Nashville on my sample hd, which folder should I place it in? I assume I’d move this whole folder tree: Toontrack\EZDrummer\EZX_Nashville

    No no no.

Have you actually read what Jord posted? You’re completely missing that (and the path where things should be). The second is why or how did the installer put the samples on drives that are usually floppy drives? A: and B: drives are drive letters usually reserved for floppy drives. C: is your system drive with every drive letter after that other drives. Granted it’s been a while since I played admin on a Windows machine but still….

I’d like to make a couple of requests for usability...

I’d like to make a couple of requests for usability changes in the forum software. The first is the ability to see the actual post being quoted in a response. Currently one doesn’t see the actual text of the post. This is the only website where in the forums you don’t see the quoted text when formulating a response. This would help when a post being quoted has several items and one is only responding to one and not everything. The second request is the ability to multi-quote several posts so one can cover several items in one post. Again every other website forum allows some form of multi-quoting.

Testing the forum “Quote” function with Jack’s post,

Thank you for the feedback, we will forward this to our web team.

    and with Rickard’s response.
At one time, this ‘quoting’ functionality had worked…

    I used it frequently.

    I don’t know, Jack.

It looks like it worked for me.

Maybe Support fixed it after your post…

Just tried it here but the way they have it isn’t like any other forum. On other forums there’s a specific icon to click to do a multi-quote. This forum makes you separately quote each post you want with no explanation of how to do things. That’s one of my gripes with this forum s/w and Toontrack documentation in general – lots of functionality that are hidden from those that don’t know the secrets. Couple that with having to have an account to even read threads if all you want is to find something which makes it invisible to the usual search engines – they may show the link but if you don’t have a Toontrack account you’re screwed.

Not seeing that here. What exact revision of PT are you on? PT 2021.6 in OSX 10.13.6 is on time. Where’s your MIDI – in PT or SD3? Try changing between samples or ticks. You don’t happen to have input monitoring turned on in PT do you? Any DSP dependent s/w like UAD running? You may also want to post about this on the DUC.

Perhaps I am not being clear enough.

Forget about the Nashville EZX on your sample drive. Superior Drummer won’t see that one EZX. The path in your Libraries/Path settings is where all of your EZXs and MIDI are installed.

Move this folder in its entirety to your sample drive and point Superior Drummer 3 to the newly moved folder on your sample drive and delete the old Nashville EZX installation.

    jord

But is this the same path for Windows because that’s what the OP is using. Your’s looks like it’s for a Mac.

BTW the link for your personal page returns a runtime error message after a few minutes of trying.

the 3 horizontal lines on the right hand side of the installation info tab also has uninstall, I wonder if I should do that and then somehow point it to the correct sample HD.

Shame the forum s/w doesn’t allow to quote 2 or more posts. First – it’s weird you don’t have the options for Nashville. Second – there’s a simpler way the uninstalling and reinstalling. Just move the library to your sample drive and make sure that SD3 points to that drive.

In the installation manager click on the 3 horizontal lines on the right hand side of the installation info tab of the product manager. You should see several ways to change paths or add an alternative library path.
