Even more basic:
Is your computer plugged in?Reply To: No sound on Superior Drummer 3 on Mac Mini M4 Studio One version: 3.3.7
Operating system: Windows 11
Don’t laugh – I had a buddy that worked tech support for a computer company and that was one of the first questions that was on the script they use over the phone. And I’ve seen that same question many times in the back of a manual usually marked ‘having issues?’

Even more basic – does the OP get any sound at all on his audio I/O device? Something like YouTube videos? System sounds? Always pays to start with basics.

I know SD3 has more articulations than the GM standard but that’s not the issue for me. GM specs 4 rack toms not 3 and SD3 ignores the high rack tom. So if one pulls a MIDI from online those are all mapped from the perspective of 4 rack toms. That makes it either to remap the GM preset in SD3 or change the notes in the downloaded MIDI. SD3 gets everything else right for the most part with their mapping presets.

Remapping MIDI in SD3 isn’t all that easy and the learn function mystifies me. I wish I could help further but I found what I did by accident and messing around with things. I’m hesitant to mess around with my setup to help you and sure wish someone else could help out here.
BTW to whomever is overseeing operations on this forum but the quote function and other things below a post have gone away and all I see is a ‘reply’ button and nothing else. Latest version of Firefox on a Mac.

Congratulations – you’ve run into something I’ve railed about since I got SD3 and that’s the kit piece mapping. Some of it is plain wrong like the rack toms. For instance drum General MIDI specs four rack toms and SD3’s GM preset (along with every other MIDI preset I’ve tried in SD3) ignores the first rack tom. Take a look at this page and you’ll see what I’m talking about. I’ve had to customize the GM preset and save it as a default for my use. You may have to do the same thing.
https://computermusicresource.com/GM.Percussion.KeyMap.html
Also the gui in SD3 is pretty much fixed in the kit pieces shown for a particular library. It happens to be that SD3 core library shows 3 rack toms no matter how many are actually used in a kit preset. Why Toontrack doesn’t allow the visual representation of a kit actually show what’s in the kit and not show ‘ghosts” of kit pieces that are NOT in that preset. For instance I have a few kits that use 4 rack toms and that 4th tom sits all by it’s lonesome in the upper left of the kit window. Kinda weird right?

I have SD3 standalone on a Mac. I got the error message:
“The Superior Drummer 3 plug-in could not be found.
Please quit this application and reinstall Superior Drummer 3.”I tried it several times to reinstall. Without success. I tried also the pkgutil –forget com.toontrack.superior.app.pkg command.
Any tips how the get SD3 back to live again?
Thanks
Holger
[Edit]
I turns out, the harddisk has failures. So I got a new 1TB SSD and put 8 GB more RAM in it. I installed High Sierra instead El Capitan on the Mac (Mid 2011). SD3 runs without problems in the latest Version now:-)

El Capitan is probably one of the worst Mac OS releases ever. There is a reason it’s often called El Crapitan. Supposedly SD3 is usable back to OSX 10.10.x but I’d not trust that. Did SD3 ever work on your system (and if it did what revision of SD3?)? Did you let the installer put the bits and pieces where it wanted (except for maybe the samples)?

Is just the kick drum quite or are there other kit pieces that are quiet as well? If other kit pieces are quiet as well change the velocity curve and sensitivity in the drum brain itself. That would be the first thing to look at. I don’t know the kick drum pedal used with the Roland but some kick drum towers have a sensitivity control right on them. Consult your manual for the TD17 and see if it does.
The reason I’m saying to look at the TD17 first is that while SD3’s MIDI presets do have a velocity curve setting you have to do that for each kit piece that you want changed and then create and save a default project in SD3 then you will have it ready to go in each new project – you’ll see this message at the bottom of the right hand side of the settings subwindow. The thing to watch out for is that the actual MIDI note assigned by SD3 for the factory TD17 preset may have errors so make sure when setting things up what you play on the Roland corresponds to what SD3 actually plays.

I had this problem and then realized i was using my high impedance headphones. So just throwing that out there if you own a pair of high ohms headphones.
I’ve had that problem way back when with AKG K270 cans – they needed a LOT of power to drive them. Sounded great and they had 2 drivers on each ear cup. Killer low end.

First off when you click on a kit piece in SD3 it plays at full velocity. So barring you running SD3 at a low audio level I’d say to hit harder and make adjustments to the velocity curve in the TD27. What are you running the audio through – your computer’s audio interface? Are you playing in standalone or in a daw?

Its easy to do your own. Start with the strike pro. Hit your drums and see whats not right then change it by using the learn function in the settings.
When you make your own, you learn how everything works. And when something goes wrong and it will, you will know how to fix it.

That would be my advice as well given that there are issues with the mapping in other presets for SD3. Take for instance Toontrack doesn’t allow for 4 rack toms and even the 3 they map for are wrong.

Hi there,
Under Settings >Performance
How many Cores do you have configured?
If it’s not 1, could you set it to 1 and see if that fixes the issue?
Reply To: SD3 just started crashing while playing along to a song version: 3.3.7
Operating system: macOS Sequoia (15)
Would changing that have any effect when running SD3 in a daw? I use Pro Tools and don’t see a setting for cores in PT itself.

Who cares, really. The OP wants to install the libraries on a different drive because the drive that libraries are on isn’t working. If the OP has problems with the new drive, that is a different problem.
if someone asks for the time, they don’t expect to be told how to build a clock.

On PC.. Any drive that disappears on startup, and then shows up on a different startup… back and forth. I stop using it immediately. It will go away forever soon. If it’s a mission critical HD, wait until the replacement shows up before putting anymore use on it and then recover your info if needed.
If anything is irreplaceable on that drive, stop now. Literally unplug it. Grab a screwdriver if you have to, open the PC, and detach the power cable.
The thing is we don’t even know how the drive is connected or how it’s powered. If it’s bus powered that could be the issue. Could even be a cable. We just don’t know. Like I said I’ve had cables fail all on their own. I’m not saying that it’s not the drive. Some basic troubleshooting on the hardware side would help. My first thought would be a new cable if it’s an external drive. It could even be something as simple as dirty contacts on a cable.

How can I install to another drive, without first uninstalling?
There are no such options available, except for the ones i’ve mentioned and they’re not working, because of the problems I’m having with the ssd (or whatever it is).Reply To: Move libraries from broken ssd… version: 3.3.7
Operating system: Windows 10
You not knowing anything substantive about your computer isn’t helping. That being said follow these steps: open the Product Manager. This is for part one of the core library but the other parts should be the same. Go to the section labeled ‘Superior Drummer 3 Library Part 1 – Basic Sound Library. Then click on ;show details’. Then in the window that opens just below that click on the ‘installation info’ tab then click on the three horizontal lines that has a down arrow on the right hand side and you should have an entry that says ‘change path’. You should be able to change the installation path there.
I don’t see that doing an uninstall/reinstall would work because you might get the same ‘invalid library’ message.
I just remembered something – make sure you are running in admin mode on your computer.
