drumjack52Scott, that certainly helps, although it only provides 12dB of gain and these samples are pathologically quiet. But it probably will be ok. Thank you so much.
Might I suggest not just raising the level of the swirl but at the same time lowering the levels of the other articulations? That will give you an extra bit of level difference between the articulations. And to make up the lost overall level boost the total snare drum level. Historically snare swirls are never all that loud to begin with.

Thanked by: Johndrumjack52You can adjust the volume of each articulation individually if you want. Select the swirls articulations in the Articulation Menu and then the Property Box (Volume) will just adjust those articulations.
Didn’t know that – thought the level slider was only for the kit piece as a whole and not individual articulations.

drumjack52What might help is to track down who Lenny had on drums and see what they used. He’s used a number of different drummers. It’s a dry sound as far as I can tell.

Thanked by: RAY PRIMdrumjack52I just did a search and that is a Realtek asio driver. I didn’t know they made asio drivers. A google search showed a few people having problems loading software with this driver. Always a good idea to give full spec of what is being used when reporting a problem. I take it you don’t have a dedicated audio interface? Maybe the driver has been updated automatically and that has caused the problem. Also try asio4all and see if you can load with this. You may have to disable the Realtek driver though as sd3 will probably try to load using it otherwise.
In a previous post I wondered if the OP was possibly using the built-in interface and he came back and said he was using a PreSonus Studio 24C. I’m thinking he still has the onboard interface enabled. I remember that Windows doesn’t take kindly to using multiple audio interfaces at the same time. Like you said there’s no such thing as TMI when asking for help. The devil may be lurking in the shadows. I would think the PreSonus would have it’s own drivers – ASIO is good only if such a driver doesn’t exist.

I’ve turned in a ticket. Every time I try to attach a file, I get the following message.
The file type of your attachment “Dean Stadtlander issue.zip” is not allowed. Allowed file types include: GIF, JPEG/JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, MP4, TXT, RTF, PDF, ZIP, RAR, TAR, GZ, and certain Toontrack project files.
I’ve tried several times and renamed the zip file a few times. Any other options?
Post the file to DropBox and send the link to Olof. What’s interesting is that one of the allowed file types is a zip file and you’re getting a message saying your file type is not allowed. If you still want to try that again make sure there are no spaces in the filename; use underscores if you want to separate words in the name.

drumjack52Near as I know SD3 supports stereo outputs in all daws as well as standalone. You have the choice of using stereo or single channel outputs from inside SD3 via it’s mixer.

drumjack52One of the historic problems with using the Windows uninstall utility is that it sometimes misses stuff and to correct that that used to mean taking a trip through the Windows registry. That’s not for the faint-hearted. That the sound is distorted in your daw is concerning – everything else in Studio One sound okay? Have you updated your audio device driver lately? Please tell us that you’re not using the built-in I/O.

Wasn’t aware that you could uninstall Windows updates other than by going to a previous system backup (or drive wipe and reinstall). Have you looked online to see if there’s reports of Windows causing program crashes? And how does a reinstall of SD3 look different than when you did the initial install? You are using the Product Manager right?

drumjack52I get hihat hits from recorded MIDI but not when I click the pedal in the SD3 gui. Every other hit on a gui kit piece gives me sound and movement on that kit piece. Also with recorded MIDI even though I get a sound from the hat there’s no movement from the pedal but there is movement from the hat cymbals themselves. But say with kick drum I get movement on the pedal as well as sound.

drumjack52I never noticed that until now but you’re right. Click on the hihat pedal and nothing happens. That’s across the core library as well as Death & Darkness and Area 33. Did you notice this before you went to SD3 3.4.0? Maybe a bug in this version? Anybody with a previous version – what do you see?

drumjack52These samples you’re talking about – are they your own user samples or what? This is starting to circle back to another thread you started here about user samples and were told that SD3 is not a sample player like Kontakt or such. There has to be something related to that here. But the maddening thing is that your process works and then stops working and that the incoming MIDI still works as mapped. To me that means that SD3 is losing it’s way to the samples. As to why it works on other presets – I wonder if there’s a conflict in the pathways to the samples in this particular preset and SD3 just throws up it’s hands and gives up?
Can you as a test pare back some of the samples that do play and see if the latest ones you added that don’t work now play consistently? I mentioned this as another thought that maybe you’re hitting a limit of some kind with the number of samples or parts in a stack? Is there a limit as to the number of parts in a stack?

drumjack52Do you have any mixer channels hidden? If so unhide everything and see if anything untoward pops up. Are you caching anything? FYI when I try your download (even dismissing the missing samples warning) I get several pads on the left side that make no sound. Is it possible that something in the stack is muted? Not that familiar with stacks.
