Also, did you know, the VH-14 has the ability to detect tip or shank hits.
Yet another ability that I would really encourage ToonTrack to work on. The cc midi messages are listed in the roland manuals. So many of the amazingly detailed and beautiful sounding libraries have those hit variations recorded.
Please please please ToonTrack!
J3 grove, Does the side stick ability work with your set up? (Does it detect your hand on the drum and switch the edge trigger sound to a side stick?)
How does the rim shot repsond with your setup? (On a V-Kit you need to strike your stick on both the mesh head and the edge trigger to produce a rim shot. This even can result in a variation of rim hits if like a edge rim shot. Does your current setup map the midi in that way? (Presuming you have a sound library that would suite))
I think I understand that it doesn’t currently have that behavior for you in your setup.
Hi there, I would like to know if Superior Drummer 3’s TD-50 (or TD-27) preset can respond to the cc messages that the Roland modules send out as a result of playing the PD-140DS and CY-18DR:
– tip or shank of stick on ride detection (resulting in respective sounds being triggered)
– snare edge(‘clunk’ sound) on rim only hit
– only playing snare rim shot(sound) on combining head and rim(hit)
– rim shot variations depending on where the stick lands on head(when also hitting rim)
– detection of hand on head resulting in rim sound change to side stick sound
I would really appreciate clarity on all of these points if possible. It’s ok if Superior Drummer 3 can not currently do some or all of these, Toontrack are amazing, you guys are my heros for making such awesome software. Would just really like to know exactly what it can do currently either way.
If some or all of these cc messages (sent by module) is not setup to change the relevant sounds, is there a way of me programming them to?
If superior Drummer 3 can not currently make the best use of the cc messages, please can you consider this as an update. The sounds are already there, it would be a shame to not be able to trigger them with all the available Roland digital triggers.
Thank you in advance for answering my questions.
You guys rock!

Sorry, I wrongly assumed (without reading all posts, shame on me…) that this was a discussion about the graphics.
We will check and see if we can make the drums appear in ‘Search for Instrument…’.
Thanks for your response Erik,
I’m pleased it is just a communication breakdown.
There was me thinking you didn’t care
I hope you guys can fix it and you can let us know.
Thanks
So

So, thats it, your just going to wipe your hand of this???…. after selling me an upgrade that stated it would work on all the old sound libraries, then when it doesn’t, hide behind the small print. You guys do great stuff so please do not think that I have a lack of respect and appreciation for all the hard work you guys do, because I really do. However can you please pass the message on to your Devs that They are the ones that have created this situation, Evil drums worked perfectly fine in SD2 So why do it not work on SD3? if you are not going to resolve the issue on you end, baring in mind that we all know it is a problem on your end then that is VERY sad. I guess you’ll be doing this with your other libraries some day. Maybe all the hundreds of pounds I’ve spend will just be made obsolete!
For the sake of Toontracks reputation, fix SD3 its just a matter of programming, simple as that,no excuses!
So just to clarify:
Can you please fix the bug so Evil Drums appears on the instrument lists.
All the Best
Matt
