Thank you. I realized the problem. The toms and snares were too hot and the dynamic range is too shallow secondary to cheap double-ply mesh heads. I just changed it to premium three ply and the toms and snare no longer drown out the cymbals.
I too have the same exact problem. I’m looking at the velocity curve as I hit the cymbals and it’s in line with the actual attack I place on Roland cymbals. However, the sound produced is ANEMIC –> low dynamic range. Although the samples itself sounds good, the cymbals doesn’t crash like real cymbals or even compared to drum modules. I tried every trigger settings, velocity, volume, mic level, on all “original kit” kit but I can’t get it to sound decent. Is this an over compression issue or EZdrummer is more for production and not for “real” acoustic drumming? The cymbals just doesn’t sound as good as the snares and toms. Please help…
