Ok thanks ! I´l give it a go..
The midi imports to the daw with no problems and two new files get created in the EZD3 folder Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Toontrack/EZdrummer 3 as it should. All the folders in the path has permission to read and write except the shared folder that can’t be modified..

I tried to re-install all the midi files and now it seems the problem are more periodic but I am not sure its related. Midifiles from some folders like singer songwriter did not work at first. However when I deleted the file and re inserted the same file into the daw it suddenly worked and could be edited..Sometimes I just need to move the file a 16th of a note and back again before the midi gets ‘’unlocks’’ ..  So it seems very much like a bug ..

Haha.. Yeah.. I remember that as well .. Nothing like that but thanks anyway.. To recap.. I can manually record drums from my keys right after the midifile from EZD3 on the SAME track with the exact same setting and I can edit the one recorded and not the one from EZD3.. It seems to me the problem lies within EZD3 as any other midi-recording in pro tools work fine..

Hmmm.. This is very strange.. Could this be a license issue ? Maybe I need to re-innstall.. I tried trashing PT prefs and started over on a clean session. Same result.. I will try to post a video asap..

It would be helpful if Toontrack support could chime in… Is there anyway I can reach them ?

    Thanks!

No.. Grid or slip has nothing to do with it..  I can record manually on the same instrument track and be able to move notes in the editor so it has to be linked to the spesific midigroove coming from EZD3. I have experienced that a few random grooves can be edited ?? Could you try the first groove on EZD3 midi library and see if that is locked ?

No.. Nothing like that.. It is just the midigroove dragged from EZ drummer that cant be edited. The notes are locked ? I can even play a groove on the same track with my midikeyboard and then edit the notes from the recording..Its only the midifile from EZD3 thats ”locked”…. I have worked in Pro tools for 30 years and this is the first time I have experienced this..haha.

    Thanks Andreas 🙂

I realize there is a few workarounds , duplicating the track being one of them. However.. when you do lots of takes , testing performance, grooves , arrangements, jump-in fills etc it is a real hassle to constantly remember to duplicate tracks or make backups along the way. Every extra and unnecessary task also has a tendency to dampen the creative process so I really look forward to having this feature in your otherwise magnificent software. Kind Regards David

Toontrack really need to have en un-quantize / restore performance function to SELECTED parts to make the recording-software useful. This way you can quantize parts of a performance and have ghostnotes etc unaffected and do its thing. There is no way quantizing an entire track will ever work which make us record drums outside the toontrack software. However.. I find the rest of the software really useful so I would love to see a Restore Performance function which can undo any quantizing I´v done to a track and restore the original performance on the selected notes. Hope Toontrack can chip in and give a response 🙂
