By the way – this is all new music – I composed the original music back in 1999, but never recorded it well, so I finally re-recorded everything using today’s more modern technology (and EZ Drummer, of course).

Plus I added a new song (Darkrisis).

And I added a http://download532.mediafire.com/irbe081qybag/exq4pg9b32uzytp/ECrisis1.zip for more download options

I’ve also been waiting to hear more from the incredible Jacker! I thought he was (is?) one of the most talented MIDI programmers I’ve ever heard. Please someone find him and convince him to create more music we can listen to.

Very cool tune – if I didn’t see the video, I would’ve thought they were acoustic drums.

I also get that “80’s” vibe, mainly in the vox. But very cool. The parts are much cooler and arranged better than most of the “hair-metal” from the 80’s.

And I tend to agree with the point about how all modern guitars are hard panned left and right (I do it myself, too…) – that it does take away from the live jam feeling. Anyone know who the first rock guitarist was to do those hard LR overdubs?

    ORIGINAL: Xiek

Have you considered a midi controller?

    LOVE mine.

These things are surprisingly expensive, too!!  They’re still around $1,100 US!  They are very cool.  I saw Future Man from the Flecktones using one with DFH Superior – If you closed your eye’s, you’d swear it was a real kit.

    But still expensive.

I actually bought TWO of those cheapie ION kits ($300 each) at a Target retail store, and built them together as a single kit (plus spare pads and pedals left over from the 2nd kit that wouldn’t fit).  Total cost – $600.

Is it as good as a Roland kit. NOOOOOOO  WAAAAYYYY!  But does it do what I need it to do?  Yup.  They’re basically the same as one of those older ALESIS edrum kits that are obsolete with thinner support bars.  And the brains is basically an ION-modified SR-16 with trigger inputs instead of a MIDI input.

MIDI’d into my computer with EZ Drummer.  Listen to some of my stuff.  It works.  Cheap.

Cakewalk SONAR Home Studio, the most basic version is only $100.  Very easy to use.

I’ve stuck with Cakewalk products for years, and have been pretty satisfied.

REAPER is also pretty good, but less MIDI options – the Step Recording function is pretty unuseable and Multi-timbral Multi-Instrument VSTs are difficult to set up and use easily.  Though is is very low on CPR usage and easy to figure out.  And cheap.
