I’m using EZBass in Studio One Professional 4.6. It happens every time I start the DAW (I shut down my computer every night).
I believe the ability to extend the note length is within the 5 pixel width as you describe however the arrow only becomes visible within that one pixel. I’m able to extend the note when I’m on the end of the note even if arrow isn’t visible. That’s the confusing part.
I am struggling to get my mouse on the left side of an event to invoke the arrow to (drag and) extend the length of the event. It seems like you have to get the mouse over an area that is just 1 pixel wide!
The range is 5 px. Can you double check that this is the range you get? Move the mouse cursor slowly (horizontally) and count the steps that the mouse cursor does, before turning in to the pointer again.
If the scale of the software has been changed, this can affect the operation range for different tools.

Hi Erik. I just tried again to grab the arrow cursor and it really seems to be a single pixel. As I move very slowly horizontally, the arrow appears and then immediately disappears. This happens regardless of the view scale setting.
I had the same concern at first but then thought about it and realized that Major or Minor covers 90% of the needs and some editing may be required in the grid editor for extended chord accompaniment.

Yeah, that’s what I had stated in my original post. That area needs to be a bit wider. I did notice that even though you don’t see the double arrow, you’re still able to extend the length.. sometimes. But it’s touch and go.. It needs to be easier..
Can you
Adjusting the note length using the slider on the Timing drop down seems to follow some rule where it works on some notes but other notes with an articulation applied doesn’t work.
Can you further explain this? The length of each note is adjusted regardless of what articulation it is, the difference is that the Length slider won’t allow notes to overlap, so a note won’t be extended further than to the next notes start (if they are placed on the same tone).
Being able to shift the timeline of the grid view without having to use the cursor on the bottom would be handy. Clicking and dragging the time rule is a typical option.
Do you mean to zoom the track?
- You can use a mouse wheel – in combination with Alt (vertical) or Alt + Shift (horizontal)
- You can drag the edges of the scroll bars
- You can use the + and – buttons next to the scroll bars
You have maybe discovered these ways already, but still want the Cubase “drag the time line vertically” zoom option?
I’d like to be able to zoom in much more than the current allowable max value.
You can zoom more using the +/- button, or the mouse wheel. Have you tried those?
It would be helpful to switch between the Select, Add Notes and Cut pointer tools by right clicking instead of having to go back to the pointer tools icons on the left.
We have used keyboard shortcuts instead of right click shortcuts:
- 1,2, or 3 on the keyboard to change tool
- Alt + Shift, or Alt + Cmd + Shift, to temporarily switch tool
Again, you might have found those, but still want the right click “Cubase” shortcut system?
Note that the keyboard shortcuts usinc Cmd, Alt, and Shift are those on Mac. There are similar shortcuts for PC, all can be seen in Settings > Keyboard Shorcuts

Hi Erik! Thanks for your prompt response!
I now understand the behavior of the adjust length cursor. Thanks.
I do like the drag the timeline vertically option to zoom in and out. It’s more efficient since it works anywhere on the timeline. But again, that’s personal preference.
Using the scroll wheel and Shift does offer much more zoom resolution than I expected. Thank you!
I do like the right click “Cubase” shortcut system for the tool pointers. No need to use another hand for the keyboard that way. I’m a guitarist so I always have my left hand on the neck!
Good suggestion Phil! I know Toon Tracks reads these forums. These additional articulations would be nice. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. They appear to be focusing on stability issues right now.

Thanked by: Phil PendleburyThanks for the suggestion Daniel, I’ve added a feature request to add an articulation for them.
You can program them right now by adding the notes you want to have in your trill, selecting all of them and applying a legato slide. It’s a precision job, but it’ll get you there with a little patience for now.
As usual new features are happy little surprises, so no promises when it’ll be in. Right now we’re focusing on making EZbass stable for all our users.
I tried what you suggested however it doesn’t sound like a trill at all. I do appreciate the effort though and I look forward to having this articulation added to the options in the near future.
I believe you can move the landing note of a slide and therefore make it fairly long. The length of the notes also determines the rhythm of the slide.
I could get a decent enough trill with hammer-ons and pull-offs (legato), but maybe you want more fret noise? While you can control velocity independently for each note, the intensity of a sustained note transfers between the notes. You could try having the hammer-ons at a higher velocity than the pull-offs and see if that works for you.
The scarbee bass trills sound more like a sliding sound, maybe those are (one finger) slurs? I’d use slide rather than hammer-ons and pull-offs for that. Still legato : )
Thanks for your response Erik. Yes it’s what Scarbee calls a buzz trill that I’m looking for (i.e. bass player sliding his finger back and forth over a fret quickly). It’s a fairly common articulation for bass players. It’s often used as a transition between the verse and the chorus. Tony Levin uses that technique quite a bit. It’s too bad EZBass didn’t include it. Perhaps ToonTrack would consider adding this articulation in a future update?
Isn’t it upto those third party developpers to tag their libraries and offer new files just like ToonTrack did? Why would this be TT’s responsibility?
If that’s true, isn’t that somewhat misleading? Shouldn’t the demos give an idea of what the product can do? I realize that the demos use the sound samples but shouldn’t they also use the midi grooved provided?
