Right On!! ( some sixties lingo for the younger crowd.) I do the same thing in cubase. I think one needs to approach this whole recording thing like painting a picture. you draw the background first then move forward to the foreground. I start off by putting down a basic beat track. Then I add a scratch guitar track. Then make another track right below the first drum track and start adding fills, etc. I have been using Latin Percussion quite a bit and add that below the fill track and another for LP fills. Never would I try to put everything on one track. I also am not a big fan of individual tracking. I find the canned mixes work very well. You have to remember this is not an analog drum set and doesn’t work the same way. I think the Toontrack stuff works very well for my purposes. Like everyone else I ger perplexed with the registration thing but haven’t had any issues for quite some time.Just my $.02 worth.
