The MIDI mapping in your TD-50x module needs to be default otherwise the TD-50x preset in EZdrummer 3 will not work properly.

As Andreas commented there will be differences between libraries due to different recordings i.e. different producer, mic techniques, drums, studio etc.

The EZD3 core library was designed to behave as closely as possible to an acoustic drum kit when played with electronic drums so at default module settings it should be just a case of selecting the appropriate e-drum preset and you should be good to go.

Please see our new EZdrummer 3 E-drums video for more set-up hints.

Just to clarify, are you saying that the EZdrummer 2 libraries play differently in the EZdrummer 3 software or are you referring to the new EZdrummer 3 libraries?

If you are using the module as an audio interface you need to have the headphones plugged in to that. If you plug your headphones into the laptop you will need to use the onboard audio device and switch the driver in EZdrummer 3 or your DAW.

I would recommend you use the TD-17 as an audio interface as the quality would likely be better.

    – In order to use the USB audio functionality, you must first install the TD-17 USB driver downloadable from the Roland website. Set the USB Driver Mode to “VENDOR”, and install the USB driver in your computer before making a USB connection.
    – If you do not want to hear the module sounds you can also go into the TD-17 settings and select ‘Local Control’ ‘Off’

You only need a USB cable for audio and MIDI connection between the TD-50x and your laptop

To get the TD-27 to show up as an audio device on your MacBook you should download and install the drivers from Roland. You should then change the USB preferences in your TD-27 from ‘generic’ to ‘vendor’. The TD-27 should then show up as an audio device in EZdrummer.

To disable the internal TD-27 module sounds, go to system settings and select ‘Local Control’ ‘off’.
