That’s very generous of you Fizbin, sounds like a lot of work. Thanks, I’ve downloaded them!

I downloaded the free samples and they are wave files not miidi???
Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks
There are free midis and free wavs on the site. I’m gonna take a wild guess and say you downloaded the wavs.
Froze and crashed, had to reboot my computer. I made a new file under “my favorites” and stuck the files in there. I just tried them all, it acted normal so I’m assuming it was a one time thing. I had quite a few vst’s open and don’t have a powerful computer so maybe I pushed too hard.

DISCLAIMER: I put these in a file in EZKeys. As I was auditioning them, my computer froze. Whether that is a fault of my computer, the loops, or EZ Keys I can’t tell, so Caveat Emptor.

These sound promising, though I don’t own any –

There is a free downloadable demo pack on their site. I did it and it works very well. In fact, it’s a nice lil addition to what I have already. Thanks fizbin, I owe you one!

I am aware of those, and will likely pick them up (although I read here, I think, that this expansion only includes about 25% of the midi patterns that come with EZ Keys).Â
It’s still a substantial amount if you dig deep.
For example, I am thinking about this: http://www.prosonic-studios.com/Midi-Progressions-Details.aspx?lngCollectionID=76.
I tried a few of the download demos. Basically they are notation i.e. there is nobody playing them, there is no pedaling, no dynamics etc. For me, part of what I am paying for with EZ keys is the real pianist. The thing that you linked to is merely patterns. If you used them in a song it would sound like a quantized, step-sequenced borefest.
There are tons of midi files on the net. Midi is midi. The key is to find files with some symmetry so they will work. Chords have to be 4 (or more) notes and laid out so that the changes are on the measure or half-measure in order to do the transpositions. Many midi files don’t have pedaling, so you would have to add it. Hopefully you can find some with real people playing. The nice thing about the EZ Keys files is that they are already sliced up in phrases with pedaling intact.
Sorry Juicy, I took you the wrong way. My bad.
John: thanks for that. I actually knew that (but wasn’t clear about it), I thought that listening in one key would be a more revealing way of checking them out.
For those wondering about content, the midi pack has about 25% as much content as the original.

Your check’s in the mail.
Thanks for the insult, smilie or not. Life’s too short dude…

How’s about I just have the option to click on the chord and type in a new name? I don’t need a fancy wheel.
F | Fmaj7 | Fm | FmMAJ7 | F7#9b5 | Fdim
Yeah. Either type it in or have it represented as the Alphabet in ABC order. Maybe a choice between the wheel and the non-well.
As for the ability to lock in chords, it’s a great idea of course. It’s probably pretty hard to do based on how this works (I’m guessing). There’s a whole lot of variables involved with voicing. There is also an irregular pattern with the files, where some move on the measure and some do not. It would definitely be a nice feature to have though.
I’ll probably get the new midi pack this weekend. I’m not motivated enough to make a Youtube video, but I’ll at least make a report on it.
AFAIK you can’t “move it”. What I do is click somewhere, which will basically close the selector. I then click on the next chord which “opens” the selector again.
At the bottom of EZKeys, it has the ” Key, Signature, Tempo” box and on the right will be “Follow Host” in a small dark box. Click the box to undo it.
There is also another thing I’ve noticed with sustain. See my post on “phasing”, where unison notes are repeated. This happens with sustain as well. To be honest, I don’t know if it is intentional or not and indicates some sort of pedal technique I’m not aware of. All I know is that in notation view, one can see the pedal “P” has 2 or more over each other just like the unison note problem in my phasing post.
There is a known issue with phasing. Unison notes are being created, and when that happens they will produce some funky overtones that can easily be interpreted as “out of tune”. If your hear a chord that you think is out of tune, look in notation view of your DAW (if it has it) and see what’s going on with the chord. There may be legit out of tune notes, so I think all of us can use notation view and figure out exactly if certain combinations of notes, certain bass notes etc trigger this.
